Quick note before this chapter starts. I changed the location of National City to California (like it should be) even though in Blue Robin it was New York. Just thought I'd note that. Happy reading!
_______________________________________"I don't like this" Tim muttered
"None of us like it" I frowned "My question is. If the Assassins didn't take Bruce and the others, who did? And why take Cheshire?"
Babs took off her glasses and pinched the bridge of her nose "I just wish I could get out there."
"Same" Tim agreed
"We also have this...cat lady to worry about" I said
"Cat lady?" Annabeth questioned over the jets headset, it seemed like she was the only one connected.
"Yeah I went to bust a robbery and the only thief there was this lady dressed like a cat" I frowned "She did a number on my ankle. How's Cass?"
Annabeth paused for a second before answering "Seeing her dad shook her up, being forced to help them makes it worse."
I frowned we had made a deal with Ra's and Sportsmaster. We would help them and in return they wouldn't set the bomb they had placed in downtown Gotham off. Plus it seemed likely that whoever took Cheshire also took Bruce so it wouldn't hurt to look into it. On the other hand Jade could've just run off with the money.
"How are you?" I asked
"I'm fine" The daughter of Athena answered quickly. Too quickly
"Annabeth-"
"Perce I'm seriously fine" She assured me
I knew that was a lie. Whatever the Assassins had done to her a year ago still hadn't faded and she still wouldn't tell any of us what exactly had happened though I guessed Cass knew more than I did. No matter what had happened it drove her to kill someone and still gave her nightmares. It had gotten better sure but it wasn't gone.
I saw her reaction when she saw Talia and when they had agreed to help. She wasn't happy about it.
I glanced to Barbara who mouthed: 'I'll talk to her'
"Alright" I said aloud to answer Babs and Annabeth "ETA?"
"An hour or so?"
"Okay Tim it's time you head home" Barbara said pushing away from the computer "And Percy you should get to bed it's a school night"
"No" Both of us protested
"My parents aren't even in town" Tim argued
"If Annabeth and Cass get to stay up so do I!"
"They're going to bed as soon as they get back" Barbara said "Tim you can stay here if you want but you two need to get to sleep"
Dispite the fact that I would've rather stayed up to wait for Annabeth I was too tired to argue much.
"I'm not tired" I protested....to prove my point I yawned.
Barbara raised an eyebrow
"That was bad timing!" I grumbled
"We'll talk in the morning" Barbara said
"Fine" I grumbled "C'mon Tim. If I have to sleep, so do you!"
I pushed Tim forward towards the elevator before he could argue.School was the same as always. Boring and pointless (stay in school kids). I spent half the day asleep. Maybe Barbara was right and I should've gone to bed earlier. Because of patrol every night my sleep schedule was terrible but I'd lasted this long, I could keep going.
"Finally" I said as Cass walked up to join me on the front steps "It took you forever. I've been waiting for forever"
"Five minutes isn't forever" Cass muttered
I grinned "When you have my attention span it is. Where's Annabeth? I thought she was gonna get a ride back to the cave with us?"
Cass shrugged "Want to call her?" She fumbled around in her backpack, probably for her phone.
"That's alright" I said quickly the last thing I wanted was a monster attack on my hands.
I reached for my front pocket and felt Riptide there for reassurance.
"C'mon we should find Alfie" I suggested taking a step backwards and ramming into someone
"Hey watch where you're going Jackson!" Henry Davidson said. The tall, blonde football player wasn't wearing his usual lettermans jacket but a t-shirt that marked him as a varsity football player. The kid couldn't go anywhere without announcing he played football and because of that he thought he was better than everyone. We had had our fair share of run-ins.
Although he towered probably four inches taller than me but, had I been wearing a tight t-shirt like he was, I probably would've looked more built.
"Sorry" I grumbled attempting to just walk past but he stepped in my path "Is there a problem Davidson?"
"Yeah you need to watch it!" He growled
"O-okay" I said pushing past him
He caught my shoulder and shoved me back.
"What's your issue?" I asked standing taller
"Percy" Cass hissed grabbing my backpack and pulling me back
"Still having girls fight your battles Jackson" Henry sneered
"Alright thats-"
"Percy!" Cass pulled me back and stepepd forward between us "Stop"
"But he-"
"He's not worth it"
I sighed and let my fists loosen, but the rest of me was still tight and ready to jump at him.
"Let's go" Cass grabbed my arm and pulled me forward
"See ya later Jackson" Henry smirked and waved as Cass pulled me away towards the parking lot.
