As I approached the gate of the Wonderland Palace, two guards dressed as cards stopped me.
"Name!" One shouted. I told them my name was Jonathan Walker. "Why are you here?!" The other shouted.
"Um, my friend is going to be executed today." I said and I showed them the invitation. Then slowly the red, heart shaped gate creeked open and I stepped inside. Princess Heart would soon become Queen Heart. She would be crowned Queen before the execution. I went inside a court yard and sat down on one of the chairs that were around it. I tried to get as close to the front as possible. There was only one more seat at the front so I took it. As I sat down I looked at the giant heart shaped clock was pointing at 4:30am. Dawn was at 4:46am at this time of year in Wonderland. So it was now time for Princess Heart to become Queen Heart. Some more guards in metal, card-shaped amour played trumpets. Then, a man announced the arrival of Princess Heart into a microphone. She stepped out of a door in an extremely fancy dress, wearing a hat that I made her. Everyone in the crowd applauded her but I simply glared. Then an important-looking man came out of the same doors with a book under his arm. He said some words that I didn't understand then placed a large crown on top of Princess Heart or now Queen Hearts head. It was then 4:45am, one minute before dawn, which was when Michael was to be beheaded. A large portcullis (A portcullis door is a kind of heavy vertically-opening gate typically found in medieval castles/palaces, consisting of a latticed grille made of wood, metal, or a combination of the two. Wikipedia search.) opened, and out came Mitchel with a bag over his head and chackles all over his body, he was also surrounded by guards. When they finally got to the block of wood shaped like a heart where one would be beheaded, they removed the bag from Michael's head. There, standing next to Michael, was a tall, beefy man, dressed in black armour holding an axe up.
"Any last words?" He said grimly to Michael.
"Yes, down with the bloody red head!!" Michael shouted before being pushed to the ground by the tall man.
"May God Have Mercy On Your Soul." the important-looking man who crowned Queen Heart said. Michael was pushed to the ground and his head was placed in the block of wood. The man in black got ready for the first, and hopefully last blow to Michael's neck. When he was ready he looked to the new Queen of Wonderland. I kept my eyes on Michael, then he looked up at me.
"Goodbye, old friend." He said. Then he put his head back to it's original position. The man lifted the axe.
"Off with his head!" Shouted the Queen. Michael looked back up at me and smiled. He took a deep breath as the axe came down on his neck. As I had hoped it would, his head came clean off with one, almost painless blow. His head bounced out of the basket and rolled over to my foot. It stopped as it hit my foot. It seamed to be looking up at me, with its lifeless beady eyes. Still smiling at me. I lifted the head and held it in my arms. I held it tight against my chest and hugged it, making blood stains all over my best and only clothes. My eyes filled with tears. I began to sob. When I looked back at Michael's pale, lifeless face, the smile had disappeared. I looked up to see millions of faces starring at me. Even Queen Heart was looking at me, with mascara all over her face, from the tears. I left with the head, running, expecting to be chased, but when I looked back, there wasn't anyone there, I just kept running to the woods.
"Why so sad?" A familiar voice said. "and, is that Mr Williams head?!" The voice said, this time sounding rather disgusted. I turned round and it was the Cheshire Cat. But to my surprise he wasn't smiling.
"Where can I bury him?" I asked still crying. The Cheshire Cat vanished then reappeared on a piece of land where there was a stone. On the stone it said:-
'R.I.P
Here lies Michael Williams.
1784-1802.
Loved and missed.'
"Will this do?" He asked. I nodded and wiped my eyes.
"Thank you Cheshire Cat." I said. I tried to smile but struggled. Right in front of the stone was a conveniently sized hole. I took one last look at the head of my best friend and whispered 'goodbye' softly into his ear. I shed one last tear for him then dropped his head into the bottomless hole. The head fell and fell, but never did I see it land. Then, as if by magic, the hole filled it's self with soil.
"Rest in peace." the Cheshire Cat said. I stood up and looked at him. "Oh by the way John you've been invited to a tea party, right here in the woods. Follow me." The cat said as he began to smile again. He floated away and and I followed him. After a while of me walking and the purple cat floating we finally arrived. There was a long table covered with cakes and tarts. Sitting there was a door mouse, a hair and the Cheshire Cat. I smiled widely from ear to ear.
