Today let's ask the age old question
What can I do?
I am a speck the universe doesn't even mention
How can I make the world anew?
I can write a little smaller
Not tear that paper because of a mistake
I can walk a little longer
That bus ride is one I can take
But why would I inconvenience myself?
It's been a hard day I cannot do it anymore
I can bring a bag to the grocery store
I can plant trees
Turn off that public tap no one uses anymore
Turn off the lights when I walk out the door
But I am just one in billions what would this do?
I thought about this all day long
No one might acknowledge the good I do
Yet my heart smiles and the little voice in my head stops
These changes cannot be made all at once
Yet perhaps my little steps will be the catalyst for another person's journey
And we can together keep this beautiful butterfly effect going
