Sitting on a bench out in the gardens, she soaked in the suns rays when a voice called out to her. Opening her eyes she saw Jan standing in front with a smile on his face. "I've wanted looking for you." He said which made her curious, "Really? Do you need me?" Jan nodded his head and showed her a basket full of food, "I thought it would be fun to go out on a picnic and...well, I would like you to join me." He asked feeling somewhat shy. She stared at him for a few moments seemingly in thought when she saw Joshua walking by not to far away. "Oh, why don't we ask him to join us." She hopped off her chair and ran over to the prince.

Jan was crushed, he wanted it to be just the two of them because he had fallen in love with her but it seemed her heart lie elsewhere. With sad eyes, Jan placed the basket on the chair and vanished from the vicinity. He didn't want to get in there way no matter how much it hurt him. As long as she was happy that would be enough or so he wished. Seeing her smiling every face day and knowing he could never have the privilege to be the one to protect that smile hurt his heart.
