The first day of university and I was already late. I turned the engine on and rolled the windows down to avoid dying from the Rockwell heat in September.
7:55 am and I had barely made it to my 8:00 am biology lecture, my coffee was all over my hand, my hair was in the messiest bun ever and the whole class stared at me as I walked in. "Late already miss Silverstone" Mr. Gabe my biology professor said while trying to hold his giggle in. I looked around me and was ready for junior year to be over! Med school is hard I have no time for a life lucky for me I didn't really have one anyway. I was the "loser" who never dressed up, showed up late every morning, and did not care about going to parties and sororities.
I work two jobs to pay for my apartment and college bills. My mom lives in Rockwell, I grew up here and this town is all I have known my whole life. From high school to university my mom has always been there for me. After my three hour lecture on how to correctly prep a person for surgery, I went straight to biochemistry for another three-hour lecture. Lecture halls are a funny place they are a lot like a high school cafeteria everybody knew their place and had their own friend group to sit with, for me Chloe is that friend group. We have been besties since high school and having her with me at college is amazing. She's a music major and has a chilled life compared to mine. Junior year is the most important year I couldn't mess it up. I needed a good GPA for internships at good hospitals to get out of Rockwell.
I walked down the hallway making my way to Chloe's dance studio after my lecture; we were grabbing lunch together. Passing through a college tour group I saw Chloe dancing in her studio with a beautiful guy with glowing pale skin, prince-like blonde hair, an amazingly toned body, and a chiseled jaw. His body moved effortlessly as though he was one with music. I mean everybody in the arts building at Rockwell university was talented and the best of the best but he was something else. The music stopped abruptly as Chloe missed a step.
"Hey I'll be right there Beccs" Chloe said waving at me.
"That was amazing Chloe," I said complimenting her as we made our way to the parking lot.
"Thanks, Beccs" Chloe replied.
"who was the guy, new partner?" I asked trying to act casual.
"That was Gabrielle he's a transfer student, he is a dance minor and the latest addition to our football team." Chloe said with grin on her face.
"He's hot," I said impressed by the fact that he was a footballer and a dancer.
"Ya but I'd be more interested if he was a Gabriella" we both laughed at Chloe's gayness as we got into the car.
"I could talk to him for you though," Chloe said while driving towards the local cafe.
"No!" I said immediately, knowing that I could never get a guy like Gabrielle.
"Come on you have to put yourself out there" Chloe said trying to convince me to date like always.
"Nah I am super busy with studying to be a surgeon and all that you know," I said while trying to be sarcastic.
"Ya, tell me something I don't know," Chloe replied with her sassy one liner.
At lunch, Chloe was successful in convincing me to go to a party with her. Arguing with her was pointless so I agreed knowing that I was going to hate it. Parties are not my scene each one I have been to have ended with me taking Chloe home and holding her hair up while she throws up all the beer she chugged.
It was Saturday night and I was ready for the party. I wore a red dress and heels, barely any makeup and washed my hair for the first time in god knows how long. I knew this party was going to full of dance majors and I secretly hoped he would also be there.
