"Oh my god, that was an amazing game! Our team was so good, Alex and Gabrielle were incredible" Chloe said as we pushed through the crowd and made our way to the parking lot. "Yeah, I know, I didn't expect him to be that good," I said feeling the blood rush to my cheeks against the chilly winds of autumn. I looked for him in the crowd hoping to see him so I could make sure that he saw me. I looked just about everywhere but I couldn't find him, there were hundreds of students leaving through the same exit, it was madness. I don't think I have ever been pushed and shoved more in my life. "So are you going to see him tonight," Chloe asked whilst putting her hands in her coat pockets. "I don't know, I mean I want to, and he said that he would find me after the game but I don't know how long I can stand here it's like the north pole out here" I replied while rubbing my hands together. I just don't do great with cold. After a few minutes of waiting, Chloe drove me home. I was disappointed; why would he ask me to come to the game if he didn't want to talk after. I came up with excuses for him like he was in the locker room or there was a team meeting or something but I wanted to see him again so much that none of the excuses made any sense. June had left as soon as the game ended to find Alex, maybe I should have gone with her but I didn't want to impose. Ughh I was frustrated but happy at the same time. I went to bed thinking about him, his eyes, lips, body, and his beautiful voice. He was literally perfect but some things didn't add up. There was something mysterious about him which I obviously liked, it's sexy, but some things he says are weird and I want to know why. The next day I had an 8:00 AM I was not ready for, I wore sweatpants to my lecture since had no time to get ready so I did really roll out of bed this morning. My hair was in a messy bun, and my sweatshirt had a huge coffee stain on it. I made my biochemistry lecture and the halls were pretty empty like they always are at this time at any university. The lecture was long and hard and I barely got any of it. The time passed by really slowly, three hours seemed like three days, I was starving, I really wanted to change and wear anything but the clothes I went to bed in last night. After the longest three hours, I ran out of the room only to run into the largest crowd I have ever seen in any hallway, there was no place to walk. "What the hell Why are there so many people here"I said to myself. "Dude she is hot," a guy standing behind me, who was much taller than me said."Who is?" I thought as I jumped to try to catch a glimpse of who he was talking about.I pushed through and to my surprise saw Gabrielle standing next to the most beautiful woman I have ever seen, and Alex and June behind them. She had delicate features and long blonde hair, almost gold, she was tall and had the perfect body. No wonder that dude thought she was hot. I saw Gabrielle show her around and talk to her with a huge smile on his face. My heart skipped a beat; was this why he didn't talk to me after the game. I was no match to her and anybody in their right mind would choose her over me but my heart broke, how could I have been so stupid, how could I have let myself hope. "Move along people" Alex screamed, with his loud booming voice. Suddenly everybody started to move, and go back to minding their business. I blended in with the crowd and hurried to the dance studio to find Chloe; I needed to talk to her."What a jerk" how can he do that; the next time I see him, I am gonna give him a piece of my mind. Chloe said after I explained what I had just seen to her. We were sitting in the cafeteria where everybody is just in their own world and nobody pays attention to you. "I know right, I mean he could have just not asked me to the game he was going to ditch me" I replied, I felt myself getting angrier. "Exactly, but who was he with; I am sure you are like a 100 times prettier than her," Chloe said trying to calm me down. "You haven't seen her, she is like a goddess," I said. "Yeah, I can see that now," Chloe said looking stunned almost drooling. "What?" I asked in confusion "I think she just walked in" Chloe replied without blinking her eyes."What!?" I turned around. I saw him and I am pretty sure he saw me because all of them were walking towards me. Sheer panic took over my body, I was suddenly a lot more aware of how I looked, I was in SWEATPANTS! I wanted to run out of there, but it was too late. June waived at me as if she'd known me my whole life. Alex, June, the goddess, and Gabrielle stood next to our table and I had never felt more humiliated in my life. "Hey what are you guys doing here," Gabrielle asked. "Talking about you" I splurged out. "Why did I say that!?" I panicked in my head. "what?" June said while trying not to laugh. "We were talking about how you ghosted Becca after the game last night," Chloe said while fixing her eyes at Gabrielle. She sounded irritated. "What I didn't ghost you," Gabrielle said as he turned to look at me. "You kind of did bro" Alex whispered to him. "what? I didn't know I was" he replied. "stop lying Gabrielle, you shouldn't have asked me to the game if you were going to ditch me for whoever she is," I said with anger and frustration while standing up to point at the goddess who stood calmly next to Gabrielle. They all took a step back as I got up."Woah, calm down, it's not what you think it is," Alex said trying to be diplomatic. "Ya, I wanted to see you after the game, and I was getting ready to find you but then I ran into my sister and I got distracted, and I was going to apologize to you today," Gabrielle said while looking into my eyes. "Sister?" Chloe asked with utter confusion. "Yes, I am Prince.." the goddess spoke but she was immediately cut off by Gabrielle. "Yes this is Aurora my sister who has come to visit me," Gabrielle said trying to stop her from speaking. It was weird they didn't look the same, she had much tanner skin and different features but I was too much in shock to get into the details of that. I was embraced I had just accused him of something so wrong. "Oh," I said trying not to look at her. "look I am so sorry about all this, but I never wanted to ghost your anything, I don't even know what that is but anyway, let me make it up to you please," He said with such innocence. All my anger had gone away, and I was blushing so hard when he asked for a second chance and I knew I would be a fool not to so I did. I told Gabrielle to text me so we could make plans and then they all left to continue showing Aurora the campus. "Well that wasn't awkward at all," Chloe said in sarcasm as soon as they left. I burst out laughing causing Chloe to join. "I was so wrong about him, I was panicking over nothing," I said. "Yeah, you do tend to overthink and then drive both me and yourself crazy" Chloe replied. "They don't look like siblings though," I said to her as we both walked towards the vending machines to grab some snacks. "Yeah, I mean she is literally so beautiful and has this gorgeous sun-kissed skin and chocolatey brown eyes and he, on the other hand, has pale skin and green eyes," Chloe replied while inserting coins in the machine. "Sun-kissed skin really sounds like somebody has a crush," I said trying to tease her. "I don't have a crush, she's totally out of my league" Chloe replied while looking down. "You do have a crush on her, I can see you blushing," I said while giggling. "Stop it," Chloe said as she elbowed me in my stomach. "Okay okay; but she seemed a little off to me," I said."Facts, all of them seem a little off" Chloe added in. After an adventurous morning, I was happy to go back to class and sit for a long boring lecture where things were normal. I worked in my lab after the lecture to get some extra work done. In the middle of everything that was going on, I had forgotten about my dream to work at a big hospital in New York. It was everything I had worked so hard for and I wasn't going to let anybody come in the middle of that. The next week went by pretty quickly; I had my practical labs due and those are the hardest part of any science. It was an intense week. I basically lived in the lab; I completely shut myself off and focused on my work. I did well and got a good grade which meant I was one step closer to my dream. Chloe had her dance recital this week so she was busy too; I didn't see her at all this week and I hadn't heard from Gabrielle either. It was Sunday and I was ready to go home and just chill out but my plans were soon interrupted by a long-awaited text message."Hey, wanna hang out tonight?" Gabrielle. I was excited to see his message and I felt a jolt of happiness. "Yes, let's grab dinner at 8:00" I texted back. I had two hours to get ready which was not nearly enough. I was on FaceTime with Chloe trying to decide what I should wear. Finally, after going through everything I own I wore my red dress, it was simple yet classy. I did some light makeup and wore heels. "Waiting outside" Gabrielle texted. I tried to calm the butterflies in my stomach as I saw him. He looked so good. He was in a white shirt and black pants, with the sleeves, rolled up halfway through his arms, his collar was perfectly done and the first two buttons of his shirt were left open. His hair was set perfectly. "You look beautiful," He said breaking the silence. "You don't look bad yourself" I replied causing both of us to let out a soft laugh. We walked to the restaurant and talked about our week. He told me about his dance recital going well, and his love of Netflix, I told him about my week in which he was surprisingly interested. We both ordered pasta for dinner and just talked for hours. I told him about my childhood and how it's just been my mom and me, and he told me about his parents who live far away, and his sister's surprise visit. I loved talking to him, I felt a sense of comfort, that I could trust him. Soon we were holding hands on the table. His hand was soft and felt good to hold. Everything was perfect and I wanted to live in that moment forever. He walked me back home and our hands stayed intertwined the whole time; I never wanted to let go. "Well this is me," I said as we reach my doorstep."I had a great time tonight, I hope we can do it again soon" He replied. We stood close to each other, our bodies almost touching."Are we going to kiss?" I thought to myself because I really wanted to. "Yeah, I had the best time too and I would love to go out again" I replied. He moved closer. To my surprise, something took over me and I leaned in and kissed him. His lips were soft, and cherry-like red. I was in shock but it felt incredible. A chill ran down my spine as our lips touched but within seconds he pulled away. He looked flustered, and he started breathing loudly, he was red, just like it was on the field when he was having a Panic attack. "I am sorry," he said in the middle of his breaths and ran away into the cold, dark night.
