As I entered his office I observed him pouring over his keyboard furiously.
"No rest for the wicked," I murmured running a hand over his shoulder.
He reached up and tenderly held my hand there for a moment while he read. Then he quickly kissed the palm of my hand before standing and towing me over to the table to eat.
"The wicked never seem to rest," He mused between mouthfuls.
"You're not," I stated. "So you need your rest."
"I'm taking a break right now aren't I?" He laughed a little.
I smiled at him and from the corner of my eye noticed a familiar small bouquet of wildflowers on a side table against the wall.
"Hey," I said pointing at them.
Oliver just looked at me and shrugged.
"I didn't know you kept them," I said quietly.
"I thought they were beautiful. They remind me of you, and the waterfall." He glanced out his large window in the direction of it.
"Some of them are yet to bloom," I noticed. "They should last a while."
"Hmmm," was all he managed with a mouthful.
I laughed at his chipmunk like cheeks. How did I get so lucky to catch Oliver's attention? Well, technically it was the sock stuck to my butt that got his attention, I remember.
"I have a strong lead on a job," I said matter of factly.
"Really?" he jumped a little with happiness in his seat.
"Yes," I continued, "Simone's brother actually. I'm hoping to be in touch with him soon."
"Oh, that's great! See I knew you didn't need my help,"
"That's what I said!" I faked shock at him twisting my words. "And no, I didn't need your help. I have my own contacts because I'm nice to your assistants."
"Hey, I'm nice." He defends himself.
I smile broadly at him and move to sit next to him. "To me maybe."
"You're turning me soft. People are even saying they can see a smile in the portrait of the two of us." He slid his hands up my thighs caressing the material of my pants.
"You only smile for me," I stated. Not a question anymore.
"Because I love you, Billie."
"Love you too, Ollie." I smiled and placed my hands on either side of his bearded face.
He leaned in with a fake grimace. I held his sweet smiling face for a moment searching his eyes for something, I'm not even sure what. The grey pools of his iris' swell with adoration and I desperately wish I knew what he was thinking.
I guess this will last a while, like the flowers he collected. Even though we are just beginning to bloom. It feels easy, natural. Like breathing. Like smiling.
