@zarperr I heard your plea for an update, and I decided to listen for once.
You looked around hesitantly, taking in your surroundings. It looked like a normal hallway. It smelled like pencils. You always wondered how birds would use a pencil. Oh well. That wasn't your business to find out.
You looked at the posters on the halls. You looked at one of the posters on the walls which had the school mascot shown. A cat.
Wait, a cat? Those ate birds back in the human world. Some things you would never understand. Like, how can birds go without wearing pants? And the school dress code barely existed! Just wear a shirt. For humans, it was a little different.."Your shirts must cover your stomache!"
"Your shirt must cover your behind if you wear leggings!"
"No mid-thigh may show!"
"Rips in jeans above the knee are not tolerated!"
"No visible shoulders!"
"No spaghetti straps!"
"No hats!"
Here, all you really had to do was wear a shirt. Maybe some sandals if you're a decent human. But how did these ducks never get blisters on their feet? You wore converse for two minutes and you thought you were going to die.
You had decided to wear a pair of black sandals, a beautiful flannel-type coat, and a navy blue undershirt. The flannel was mainly white, but the cross lines were a navy blue that looked like it was partially transparent on the color white unless it intersected with its own color.
You looked around hesitantly, awaiting your newfound friends. Louie was the first to walk up to you. He slung his arm around your shoulder, and motioned towards the front office.
"This, y/n, is the principals office and front desk. Arrive to school late, and you will be welcomed by the desk lady, Ms. Burnns, " he explained to you.
In front of you was a huge room with beautiful beige chairs with a round-ness at the back, all very close to a wall with the words PREDATORS painted on them.
"Hello, and welcome to the biggest school mascot enthusiast, me!" A mysterious voice erupted. It sounds like a librarians voice who hasn't quite aged to the average 72 years of a librarian. This voice seemed to merely be 54.
A lady jumped up behind the desk and you see someone who you assume is a crazy cat lady, pun intended. She had on half of the cat mascot costume.
Then, it clicked. This stupid mascot was a cat and called the predator. Who came up with that??! Like, seriously. Ducks are prey. You were just glad this was a middle school, or kindergartners would be in mortal fear, if they were to figure out that cats ate any prey smaller than them. This could include some ducks, if they were taught the same food-chain as you.
Wait, what do ducks eat as meat? We humans ate chicken, beef and.. Ducks. If this was a parallel universe, did that mean they ate hum-
You shuddered and shook your head, hoping the crazy lady behind the desk with wild hair didn't notice. If she did, she sure could hide it well.
"Nice to meet you, Ms. Burnns!"
. . . .
You were walking around the school with Louie for maybe half and hour. That was when you saw him. Your ex. You and him both made eye-contact, and held it. For a while, too.
You thought back. You hadn't been in Duckberg before, really, yet you remembered your ex. His name... You remembered that as if it were yesterday. Grant.
Suddenly, you remember. He had been in your old town as well. But, nobody else you knew was here...
He was giving you a pleading look. As if he wanted to ask what was happening. But, he said he wanted nothing to do with you, ages ago. So, you decided to heed that.
"Louie, let's go. We have class in 7 minutes!"
Just a small little chapter. I wanted to make sure people don't think this book is abandoned. I will most likely post updates about this book, and any others, so maybe follow??? And comment if any parts confuse you so I can make sure there aren't any holes in the story. ALSO, there was a mistake i made in the last chapter, the HUMAN HEART is yours. Not the duck one. Human heart in a duck body. Anyways, have a great rest of your day, and keep reading, loves!
