They found a place to practice. Somewhere where cars wouldn't bother to pass and Bri wouldn't hurt her knees so badly in case they met the ground. The sea wasn't that far, so whenever the wind blew, you could smell the fresh salt. It was a nice quiet place, surrounded by tall grass. Away from anyone that would assume Bri was getting killed in any case she decides to scream.
She got off the bike, lying it down on the ground. Her hair was pulled back, keeping it away from her face for her own safety. The ugly anxious feeling kept coming back, spreading from her stomach to her chest. She barely could keep her hands from shaking and her teeth constantly bit into her lip. She couldn't show him she was scared. She imagined he was only waiting for the opportunity to make fun of her. She would never see the end of it.
"You think this will be okay?" asked Bri, glancing around.
"It should do." answered Alex, stepping off the skateboard.
Bri took no time to think it over, jumping on it in the way that her feet stood completely wrong. Never before did she take any notice of how people positioned their feet. She didn't imagine it being more difficult than learning how to ride a bike, but thought of it still as highly dangerous.
"Wow! Wow! Wow! A mistake from the very beginning, okay." his lips laughed, less mockingly than she expected.
"What do you mean?" she asked, looking at him with her brows furrowed.
"You stand sideways. Not straight."
"Like this?" her finger tucked a lock of hair behind her ear, moving her feet sideways before she looked back at him for approval, her big green eyes looking at him like a scared child attempting to fail every single time.
