Lilith

I lift my hands and the metal from various places in the house starts moving. I smile at my new mutation. I look down and see my body on top of Adrian. He's fine with no scratches and so am I, maybe my back is a little cut up from the metal, but I'm fine.

I remove the metal so I have room to get off of him. We look around and see all the suits are dead. I whistle and Alai comes with Huntress at her heels.

We mount our animals and ride in the direction of the others. After a couple miles away from the house I jump into the clouds. Beating my wings in the clouds. When I'm above the clouds, I speed forward. Distantly, I hear very low voices. I fly up to them and trap Maya in a hug.

"I know you're hurt and all, but can you tone down the rain. I may have wings, but I'm not impervious. My wings are killing me."

"Lily?" She smirks.

"No, I'm a random person who knows your name." I say with my voice dripping with sarcasm.

She smiles and the rain stops.

"Look. I gotta tell Adrian where we are. I'll be back shortly."

She nods and I take off once again;looking for Adrian. I land on the ground in front of him. He smiles and pulls me to him.

"I find Orlando and Maya. Follow me."

I jump on Alai and bound for the forest with Adrian at my heels. We make great time in arrive soon. Orlando gently props Maya up on a tree and comes to hug me. I relax finally, knowing that we're safe for now. I pull away from Orlando and go to hug Maya. She hugs me tight.

"I thought you guys were captured." She lectures, "Don't ever do that again!"

"Now you know how I feel when you do stupid stuff." I tell her pulling away.

"Good point. Now let's talk about you and Adrian at the club."

As soon as she mentioned it, my heart seizes at what might have been if he died.

"We had been running in at first when it happened. I hadn't realized they were close. One second he was right beside me and the next he was on the ground. For a second, I didn't realize he was gone. When I did, I went back to him." Tears now flowing free from my eyes. "I kneel beside him and notice all the blood. I realized he was shot in the heart. I tried so hard to stop the bleeding, but it was too bad. I watched his life die from his eyes. Finally I couldn't take it, I screamed and my powers burst. And then just bring him back, it healed him completely."

Adrian comes and sits beside me.

"If I - if I didn't have this power, he'd be gone."

Adrian pulls me to him.

"Hey, I'm here and that's what matters."

I hold him tightly and cry into his shirt. I feel Maya's hand on my back, comforting me. If he had died, I don't think I could stand it. Soon, I fall asleep, wrapped in Adrian's arms.

When I wake, the first thing I think is that Adrian is dead. I bolt upright and look around. Relief flows through me when I see him beside me. He sits up and wraps his arms around me. I only listen to his breathing and close my eyes.

"You okay?" He asks.

"Nightmare. "

"What about?"

"You."

His grip tightens on me. I thread my fingers through his and let him hold me. I slowly calm enough to go back to sleep.

This time, I wake up screaming. I scramble backwards until I hit a tree. Tears run down my cheeks. Adrian and Orlando approach me slowly. I hug myself and sob into my knees.

Orlando gets to me first and reaches out to me. I jump to my feet and bolt into the forest. Adrian and Orlando race after me. I leap into the nearest tree and start tree hopping . I get stopped by Brownie.

What's wrong? He asks

I can't let them touch me!

Why not?

Because I'll hurt them. I don't want to hurt them!

You're just freaked out Adrian died. You're worried about what would happen if you didn't have that power. Relax and go back to them.

I slowly climb down the tree and curl up at the base to wait for the boys. Adrian gets to me first and relief was in his face. He doesn't come near me because he's afraid I'll bolt again. I get up and run to his arms.

I bury my face in his chest and his arms wrapped around me. Orlando arrive soon after and I break away briefly to give him a hug.

"I'm sorry guys. I'm not used to the nightmares. I flipped when I woke up."

"What was it about?" Orlando asks.

I swallow. "I killed all of you."

"Dang! I didn't know you were a serial killer!" Orlando teases.

When I almost burst into tears, he tried take it back. Adrian glares at him and punches him on the shoulder.

"Ow! I was kidding. I was trying to make her laugh. I'm sorry. "

Adrian hit him again for good measure. We start walking back to the clearing, when my foot gets caught in a deep hole. As I fall I can feel my left leg break.

I scream out of agony. The boys gently pick me up out of the hole. When they set me down again I clench my teeth hard and groan.

Adrian picks me up bridal style. I try to hold on to consciousness, but my body is fighting against me and puts me to sleep. When I wake up Adrian is above me with worry on his face. I whistle softly and Alai comes up.

I'm going to connect to your computer okay.

Alai nods. I switch into Alai's computers while staying in my conscious mind.

I lie down and grip my leg. Soon after I hear it. Adrian sets my head on his lap and plays with my hair.

When I sleep this time, I dream. I was up multiple times throughout the night. Adrian is awake. The next time I wake, I weave my fingers through his. He smiles sleepily.

"You should sleep."

"I've wanted to tell you." He says, dodging my statement, "It doesn't matter. I will always be with you."

"Guys! Maya has lost too much blood!" Orlando yells.

"What! Bring her here."

I rush to Maya and Orlando. That's right I never healed her wounds, I patched them! Why didn't she remind me? God she's dumb sometimes! I heal her wounds.

Her heart stopped beating however! This has never happened before. For what seems like forever she goes without breath. We wait and wait and wait and tears fall down my face, I cannot lose my best friend! I try again. Finally her heartbeat comes back. She opens her eyes and we collapse in the relief.
