Dragonfly glanced out the window of their little hut in the MudKingdom. She could see dragons relaxing in the mud, flying or playing. She glanced up at the big palace that rose behind the muddy swaps. "Dragonfly! Time for school!" Her mother called from inside the kitchen. Dragonfly rose from her comfy seat with a sigh. "Gloria, it's time for school." She told her older sister. "Urrggghhh." Gloria grunted. She too rose and looked up at Dragonfly with tired blue eyes. She started walking to the small bedroom the family shared. She was about to wake the little ones. Meanwhile, Dragonfly went to the kitchen where she saw her mother slicing up fish with her talons.
"Mother." Dragonfly said. Her mother looked up at her with bloodshot eyes. "Yes, darling?" She asked. "Can I help you with anything?" Dragonfly asked. Her mother gave her a sweet smile. "If there is anything, it's to help your older sister with the little ones." She told her daughter. Dragonfly nodded and went to the bedroom. "Wake up!" Her older sister Gloria told Marron. Marron rolled around and made annoying dragonet noises as Gloria got grumpier for every second. Dragonfly looked around the room. Her dad lay like a log at the corner of the room. His talons were clutched against his ears. Her little twin sisters lay beside the playing Marron all looking pretty grumpy. Like any other morning, Dragonfly thought. She sat beside her twin sisters, Shiny and Lucky, who both were trying to fall asleep. They all knew it was impossible when Marron was making all of those annoying noises. "SHUT UP YOU ANNOYING BIG FAT BABY!" Gloria spat. Dragonfly looked up at her, startled. Even dad was looking. "I've had enough! I've had enough!" She said. "I can't be the one taking care of them! I can't." Mother came into the room. "What is happening in here? Gloria we have neighbours!" Mother said. "Grrahhh!!" Gloria exclaimed and walked out the room with angry steps. Even Marron looked startled. He had stopped being annoying. For once. Lucky looked up from her sleeping place, looking confused. Dragonfly looked down and placed one talon on Shiny's shoulder. "Hey, time to wake up."
"Mmfff." She answered sleepily. She turned her head to look up at Dragonfly. She looked tired. They looked at each other for a minute, until she said: "Okey fine. You win." She got up and started walking towards the kitchen. Lucky followed her, and so did Marron. Dragonfly took three steps but stopped when she heard her father's hoarsely voice.

"Dragonfly?" She turned her head to look at him. He looked tired, with bloodshot eyes. "Keep an eye on Lucky, will you?" Dragonfly gave him an confused look, but nodded. She went to the kitchen. Gloria was not there. Marron was playing again as if nothing had happened. "Will Servia come today?" Lucky asked hopefully. Mother looked up at her with sad eyes. "No, I'm afraid not sweetie." She said in a sad voice. "Marcc?" Shiny tried. Mother didn't answer directly, you could see the answer on her face. Shiny looked down. Finally Gloria entered the room as grumpy as ever. She gave mother a scornful look. She bent down, took a fish in her mouth and went to the corner of the room. Mother looked out the window. "Oh my three moons!" She exclaimed. "You're late for school!" Dragonfly took a fish in her mouth and walked to the door. She dropped it at the muddy ground for a chance to talk.

"Shiny! Lucky! Let's go!" She told the twins. They rose highly from their seats, with a fish in each mouth. They walked out the door into the sunny swamps. Dragonfly turned to walk behind them. This was usually Gloria's job, but Dragonfly thought she wouldn't do anything. "Come on! Let's go faster!" Dragonfly told the twins as the hurried down the pathway through the swaps. The school was just behind the big Mud Hill. Most of the school was burned down though, after the Sandwing war. It made Dragonfly sad just thinking of it. "Students! Come on!" Professor Fog was calling standing just outside the door. "We're so sorry, Professor." Shiny said to Professor Fog. "Ack, well wasting no time standing here ,eh?" The siblings nodded as they hurried off to their first class. "Bye, Dragonfly." Lucky and Shiny said at the same time as they went to their class with Professor Gold. "Bye." Dragonfly called after them. She had to find classroom number four with Professor Bibi. I'm going to be late! , Dragonfly thought as she hurried off to number four. She walked through the opening to classroom number four awkwardly. Professor Bibi looked up at her confused. "You're late, Dragonfly." She said.
"I know. I'm so sorry Professor." Dragonfly said. She walked awkwardly to her seat next to Rusty, her best friend. As Bibi continued telling them about the time of the Scorching. Rusty kept giving her these confused looks. It drived Dragonfly mad. She looked up at Professor Bibi hysterically waving her wings like a swan on a lake. As their History lesson finally ended, Dragonfly couldn't stop thinking about the thing her dad had told her. Keep an eye on Lucky, will you? Still ringed in her head. Before she got to any deep thoughts Rusty was beside her, asking more questions than ever.

"Hey, what happened? Why weren't you here in time?" Rusty asked.
"Gloria was being grumpy again. I mean like very grumpy." Dragonfly answered. "Oh. " Rusty said. "Well, what to do? Odd was being extremely annoying too today." Rusty told her. Odd was Rusty's older brother. She often told Dragonfly about how annoying Odd was.

"What do we have now?" Rusty asked. "Hmmm I don't know." Dragonfly admitted. They went to check their schedule, and it turned they had hunting before lunch. The first lessons went fast. Dragonfly was good at hunting. But no one was better than Rusty. Rusty, with her rust-coloured scales and wild green eyes, was and are the perfect hunter. For lunch break, Dragonfly did like her dad had asked, and kept an eye out for Lucky. She had no idea why, but decided it would be best to do it anyways. Lucky sat with her usual friends, Brownie, Zacharina and Silva. They talked and chatted like the usual, until Duchess showed up. Duchess and Lucky had never agreed on anything. Duchess and Lucky immediately started arguing. Oh no, Dragonfly thought as she stated walking towards the arguing pair of dragons. Duchess now stood on her two back legs, her wings flapping hysterically. She roared furiously. Lucky roared back. Oh no. Lucky NO! Dragonfly thought worriedly. "Lucky! No! Stop, YOU STOP THAT YOUNG GIRL!" Dragonfly ended up roaring. She got herself between Lucky's talons and Duchess little touch of frost breath. Duchess was part icewing part mudwing. Dragonfly shoot a scornful look at Duchess. She stopped flapping her wings and got down on four legs.

"Lucky for you you've got your big protective sister, Lucky. Otherwise you would be dead." Duchess said fiercely. "You wish." Lucky snapped. Duchess walked away giving one last angry glance at Lucky. Dragonfly immediately turned to Lucky. "How could you do that!?" Dragonfly demanded. "She started it!" Lucky said. "Oh don't you start. I saw it. I know she started it. But you know we can't afford you getting expelled!" Dragonfly said. Stupid Lucky. Doesn't she get it? Our family can't afford her getting expelled. Dragonfly thought. "Graa." Lucky grunted while turning her head to the left. She looked at Duchess and her friends. "Come on now let's go." Dragonfly said. She put her wing over her little sister as they walked towards the school for yet another lesson. The rest of the day went well. But she couldn't help but think about her dad. Duchess and Lucky went into a fight. That was normal. But how in the world, could her dad, know they Lucky would get in trouble?
