Gloria wasn't home when Dragonfly woke up. It was another tired morning. She got to her feet and went to the bedroom looking for the little ones. She was surprised when she saw Lucky awake. She looked tired. Lucky heard her coming and turned her glare to Dragonfly.
"Lucky. " Dragonfly said. "What are you doing up this early?"
Lucky blinked slowly.
"Gloria isn't here." She said with a hoarse voice. "I was looking for her, but never found her." She continued.
"Please.....don't....wake....me....up..." Shiny mumbled in her sleep quietly.
"I've been thinking. " Lucky said. "And I've made up my mind, and decided that Duchess is a real brat."
Dragonfly chuckled quietly. "That you've figured out." said Dragonfly. Her father snored loudly at the end of the room.
"Maybe we should talk somewhere else." Dragonfly suggested. Lucky nodded slowly. She got up and followed Dragonfly out the door.
The village was quiet. The sun started climbing up the sky to start the day. You could see some flies here and there. Lucky sat down at the damp ground. It was quiet for a moment.
"I'm worried about Gloria." Finally Lucky said. She looked up at Dragonfly with worried eyes. Tears started showing in her eyes. "Oh Lucky," Dragonfly said while putting a wing around her. "It's okey, she will be back soon. "
"She will be back soon." Dragonfly repeated. I definitely hope she will. Mother needs her. Lucky needs her. I need her. We need her.

School was as boring as ever. Gloria was nowhere to be seen. Their first lesson was with Professor Gold. They had a short break before they had art class with Professor Speckles. Their original art classroom was destroyed, so art class was to be outside instead. It was a sunny day in the Mud Kingdom. Behind the school building was a little garden, kept alive by Professor Speckles. She thought flowers were needed in the Mud Kingdom, especially on school campus.
"It's cute, isn't it?" Rusty said. Dragonfly nodded slowly. In the middle of the garden, was Professor Speckles , beside a large stock of canvas.
"Welcome," Professor Speckles said in a dreamy voice. "To art class." Professor Speckles made a gesture towards the middle. The class settled down.
"Today we ought to paint a flower or a plant, on canvas." Professor Speckles said. Professor Speckles was no ordinary mudwing. She always wore a large amount of jewellery. Around her neck she wore at least five different necklaces in different colours. Her talons were filled with rings. On top of her head was a large flower crown. She had a pair of small golden glasses too. She had tattoo flower patterns all over her wings. And her scales were also a special light pink colour. No one knew why.
Professor Speckles had started giving out canvas to every student.
"And before we start, I would like to welcome a new student to our class," Professor Speckles pronounced happily.
"Welcome, Current!" Professor Speckles cried.
From behind the rosebushes came a clear cadet blue seawing.
The class gasped. A seawing!? What was a seawing doing in the Mud Kingdom?
"Three moons!" Rusty gasped quietly beside Dragonfly. The seawing looked around the class. As if he was searching for someone. Dragonfly looked up at the seawing. He was surely cadet blue, Dragonfly thought. His underbelly was a dark shade of marine blue. He looked like a normal seawing. Except his eyes,Dragonfly thought. His eyes were brown. Strange. But could she say? She wasn't exactly a normal mudwing. Her whole body was covered in strange patterns.
She noticed on more odd thing about Current. He had a tattoo shaped like a fish under his wing.
"Current, would you like to sit here?" Professor Speckles offered a seat next to Grey. Current nodded.
"And of course, Current will need a dragon to show him around the school. Any volunteers?" Professor Speckles asked. No one moved a scale. "Okay then, I'll choose," Professor Speckles decided. "Hmmm, Rusty would you like to show Current around after class?" Professor Speckles asked Rusty.
"Erm..sure." Rusty said.
"Good." Professor Speckles said. "Now, let's get to work!"
"Colours over here!" Speckles added. The class got to movement.
Dragonfly chose a blue flower to paint. Rusty chose a big pink rose with a bumblebee sitting on it next to Dragonfly's flower.
"Looks at this flower, Dragonfly!" Rusty said to Dragonfly in a excited voice. "Isn't it gorgeous?" Rusty gave Dragonfly a excited glance.
"It looks like a powerful queen in my eyes." Rusty added. Dragonfly laughed at her pick of words. "What? It does!" Rusty said and she too joined in the laughing. "Come on, let's go get some colours. " Dragonfly said.
Dragonfly took different shades of blue to the pedals and yellow for the seeds. And of course, some brown shades for the background. Rusty chose some reds and pinks. And of course some yellows and blacks for the bumblebee. Dragonfly couldn't help but look over her shoulder to look at which colours Current picked. She caught glimpses of red and orange. Huh. They went back to their canvas.
"Oh no!," Rusty cried. "The bumblebee! It's gone!"
Dragonfly looked at the beautiful rose. Rusty was right. The bumblebee was truly gone.
"I'm going to paint it anyways." Rusty said. Dragonfly nodded approvingly.
"Proceed." Professor Speckles said. Dragonfly started filling the canvas in a dark colour. Colouring and painting was so relaxing. This was the time Dragonfly could relax fully. She was in her own bubble now, where no one could disturb her. No one could ever disturb her.

"Where was father, you say?" Shiny asked mother.
"Doing business in the Skywing Kingdom." Mother answered with a tired voice. They were seated in the kitchen. "Nothing to worry about." Mother added.
Still no sign of Gloria. The missing Gloria made the family more depressed than ever before.
"Is Lucky still over at Brownie's?" Shiny asked curiously.
"Yes. " mother answered.
"Is Marron still over at Newt's?" Shiny asked.
"Yes." Mother answered impatiently. "And speaking of Marron, would you be able to pick him up, Dragonfly?" Mother asked. Dragonfly looked up at her mother. "Now that Gloria isn't around you are the oldest sibling, and therefore, the one with the most responsibility." Mother added.
"Sure, mom." Dragonfly replied.
Dragonfly got to her feet and went towards the door. "Bye, then. " she said.
The sky was a light orange and red colour. The sun said goodbye only to let the moon say hello. Dragonfly started walking. She follow the little pathway that led through the little village. Not many dragons were outside their homes now. She squinted over at the mud pools. If she really concentrated she could glimpse a few heads.
Suddenly she felt sorry for the dragons in the mud. Their homes were gone because of the war. And now they had to sleep outside in the mud. Some mudwings enjoy sleeping in the mud, though, she thought as she sped up her walking a bit. She walked past Rusty's hut. It was a little bigger than Dragonfly's. Rusty always said that was because of her brother, Odd. Because "he always takes so much space!" As Rusty likes to put it. Dragonfly knew that was not the reason. Rusty had a lot more siblings than Dragonfly.
She continued her walk past Orange's hut, and then Zacharina's , and there just around a corner, was Newt's hut.
Newt's hut was not quiet. There were three strange mudwings standing outside the hut talking to Newt's parents. Newt's mother was crying.
Dragonfly hurried forward to speak with Newt's parents.
"What  happened?" She said as she came close. Newt's mother looked up with red swollen eyes.
"Dragonfly, Marron's older sister?" She asked.
"Yes. Where is Marron? What happened?" The three unknown mudwings looked at Dragonfly suspiciously.
Newt's mother covered a small sob. "They're gone. Someone took them. They're gone."
