August 15th.

The most important day of the year.

It's more important than Halloween, Christmas, and it's more important than my birthday. Because it's not my birthday.

It's Steven's.

Connie circled the date on her calendar with a bright red marker. Today was the day; it was finally here! After months of waiting, it was her best friend's birthday. Although she saw him as more than a friend, that was something she kept quiet about. She swiped her phone off her desk and unlocked it. Immediately she went straight to her texting app.

Connie: happy birthday, biscuit. I can't believe you're 16!! have an amazing day <3

Now all she had to do was await his reply. It was late morning and she was sure he was completely free, so hopefully he would reply quickly.

Steven: aw, thanks <33

She smiled at the text on her screen, whilst containing an excited scream. He had no idea what was planned for him today; it had all been under the wraps. She had arranged a birthday party weeks ago, with the help of the Gems and Greg, and even some assistance from her parents. Everyone was told to keep completely silent about his birthday, unless it was a birthday wish. She really hoped no one would ruin everything.

"Bye, dad!" she stepped out of the car and waved goodbye to her father. She had arrived at the beachouse, holding her violin and the gift. It was neatly wrapped and decorated with a ribbon at the top. Attached to it was a tag, written on it in joint calligraphy handwriting was For Steven .

She walked up the steps to the beachside' s front porch and knocked on the door gently and waited. Pearl came to the door and let you in.

"He's in his room," she whispered to her and took the gift box off her hands. "Don't worry, I'll hide it so he won't find it."

Connie nodded and ran up the steps to Steven's room, her heart pounding with excitement to see him. She saw him playing video-games. He immediately paused the game and threw the controller aside as soon as his eyes noticed she was there.

"Connie!"

"Steven!"

They both went for a tight and comfortable hug. "Happy birthday...again! You're going to have a perfect day, 100% guaranteed. No refunds."

"Wait, what?"

"Never mind, haha. What've the Gems done for your birthday?" Connie tried to sound as casual as possible.

"Well...nothing so far. They just said happy birthday to me. And I'm okay with that. I don't want anything, really." he pointed, showing that he didn't want Connie to do anything either.
