"Hi, Namjoon," Jeongguk said, mentally congratulating himself for not stuttering in front of the taller guy as they shook hands. Namjoon was a bit too hot and intimidating.
Jeongguk was dimly aware of the taller walking inside and sitting on Taehyung's bed, talking to Taehyung about a guy named Park Jimin, but Jeongguk was way too obsessed with looking at him. The way his muscles flexed as he sat down, the way his biceps became more defined as he gripped the edge of the bed, the way dimples outlined his cheeks as he smiled, or the way he ran his hands through his hair. How in the world was he real?
"So, how long have you and Taehyung been friends?" Jeongguk asked awkwardly, trying his best to start a conversation.
"Friends. You could say that," Namjoon mused, side-eyeing Taehyung who suddenly looked sour. "Though I daresay I disapprove of a lot of the things he and his friends do."
"What do you mean?" Jeongguk asked, eyeing Taehyung with a newfound curiosity. He hadn't wanted to look at the guy ever since he sat on his legs nearly half an hour ago, but Namjoon's words were sparking his interest. How much more of an asshole than he looked could Taehyung be?
"Well, things, but I suppose you'll soon realise," Namjoon said, shaking off the topic. Taehyung and he were friends after all, not great ones but Namjoon found him likeable, minus a lot of the stuff he did. "I see you two aren't getting along already, how long has it been, half an hour?" Namjoon laughed as Taehyung rolled his eyes.
"He's a prat, I can't help it," Taehyung huffed, sprawling himself on the sofa.
"Talk about yourself, you've got a head bigger than a jumbo-sized water balloon. All full of ego and rubbish," Jeongguk fired back, as Namjoon laughed harder.
"You two bicker like you've known each other for years, you know?" Namjoon chuckled, eyeing the duo glaring daggers at each other.
"Never in my life have I wished to have the misfortune of knowing assholes for even a minute, years is out of question," Jeongguk said, glaring at Taehyung, though now that Namjoon had said it, his feeling of familiarity heightened.
Judging from Taehyung's look of uneasiness, he felt the same too, though he decided not to dwell on it like Jeongguk.
"I suppose this year's going to be a lot more entertaining, Taehyung's previous roommate got along well with him. Alright then, guys, I'll see you around," Namjoon said, getting up to leave the room, ruffling Jeongguk's hair and muttering another 'cute' on his way to the door.
Jeongguk felt his cheeks heating up as he stared at the door closing behind Namjoon's back.
"Jeon."
"Jeon!"
"Oi, Jeon, I'm talking to you, you dumdum!" Taehyung shouted, shaking Jeongguk violently by the shoulder. "Are you gonna stare at the door like an idiot all day? Namjoon's left. Unpack your stuff already, I don't want you messing up this place in the middle of the night."
