"Stop worrying, Hyung. I packed everything," Jeongguk sighed as he talked to an anxious Yoongi over the phone later that night."It's me I'm worried about, not you. If you forget anything, I'll have to drop it over at your dorm, and I don't have the time or energy for anything of the sort," Yoongi retorted, making his signature 'done' expression that made him look more like a dumpling than usual, though he refused to admit it.
"You're such a grandpa," Jeongguk snorted.
"And you're a baby, so you better listen to me."
"Hyung, we've been over this a million times. I'm 18 and I'm starting college next week, I'm not a baby. And chill, I've packed. I'm not going to ask your lazy ass to deliver my stuff."
Yoongi rolled his eyes only to remember Jeongguk couldn't see him. Sighing, he lowered himself further into his pillows, removing one leg from over the other to lie down more comfortably.
"I still can't believe we won't be neighbours anymore, and someone else will move into your dumpster of an apartment and make it fit to live in," the older said, chuckling as he imagined the younger getting slowly pissed.
"Be thankful you're older than me, or you'd be squashed this very moment."
"You better go off to sleep then, muscle bunny, gotta wake up early," Yoongi laughed as he hung up, waddling off to his kitchen for a midnight snack.
Jeongguk fell asleep the moment his head hit the pillow, he was drained out.
Packing was hard.
Jeongguk had to go over what he could and could not bring into the dorms over a hundred times, and when that had been finalised, he had to find a way to fit all of it into his (not so) tiny suitcase, which seemed much too small to hold his dumbells, all his pairs of Timberlands and platform sneakers, and a mountain of grey, black and white sweats.
Yoongi hadn't made it easier; he'd kept popping in and out of his apartment a million times through the day, trying to give advice up but ending up making remarks about the younger's lousy packing.
The only thing Yoongi seemed to be happy about was that having a roommate might make Jeongguk a tidier person, for his current apartment, which he had moved in two years previously in an attempt to be independent, looked like it had survived a tornado, with literally everything from clothes, books, Avengers figurines and empty ramen cups strewn across the floor and furniture.

The next morning, Jeongguk lugged his suitcase up the stairs, having met a large 'OUT OF ORDER' sign in front of the elevators. 'We're terribly sorry for the inconvenience,' it had read. "Terribly sorry," Jeongguk huffed to himself as he reached his floor at last. "If they were that sorry they could have arranged for our luggage to be moved in by them."
He looked around the hallway and spotted the door to his room, which had a large plaque hanging from it that read: KIM - Year 4 and JEON - Year 1. Jeongguk wasn't the type to get scared of seniors, but it did make him nervous to be rooming with a 4th year.
He fumbled for the keys in his pocket for a moment and inserted them into the keyhole, praying that this Kim, whoever he was, better not be an idiot. He'd had enough idiots to deal with in high school, he wanted college to be a far better experience.
He opened the door and peered into the dark room, calling out for whoever lived there.
"Hi, um, Kim? Anyone home? Hello?"
When no one responded, he assumed that Kim was probably out, and took to moving around the dorm room on his own, eyes stretched wide in the hope of being able to see in the pitch darkness. He almost tripped over what seemed to be a small table, and finally located the couch, abandoning his suitcase and sinking down on it for what seemed to be a finally relaxing moment.
"ARGHHH!!!!"
A loud scream pierced the air as Jeongguk jumped up in horror. He laughed when he realised he had sat down on a pair of legs. The owner of the pair of legs howled loudly and walked off to find the light switch, returning to the couch and glaring at Jeongguk when he had switched it on.
"What the fuck, dude!? You literally just sat on my legs!"
Jeongguk snorted to himself, pretending to be busy staring around the dorm room. Pretty was an understatement. The walls were a soft, light caramel brown, with white curtains, the golden lighting complimenting the atmosphere in the room.
"Oi, you! Jeon, is it? I'm talking to you!"
"What is it?" Jeongguk asked in a bored voice, finally looking at the man in front of him. He was a taken aback by the latter's beauty. He had piercing brown eyes, a soft, straight nose and thin lips. His face seemed to have been sculpted by Aphrodite herself, every single proportion was just so perfect. His hair was electric blue and it looked soft like fur. Jeongguk almost wanted to run a hand through those blue locks.
His voice was deep and mesmerizing and for some reason it seemed familiar to Jeongguk, though there was a hint of something irritating in it that seemed to put him off.
"'What is it'? Boy, you literally just sat down on my legs and crushed me to death, and you ask me 'what is it'?
"Did you die? Did you break your legs? No. So what's the matter? You should've been more careful, should've opened the curtains or switched the light on."
"I'm your senior, kid. Talk to me with some respect," the guy said, eyeing Jeongguk with distaste. "Keep that attitude to yourself, get it? It won't work here."
"There's no need to 'kid' me," Jeongguk said, annoyed. "I have a name. It's Jeongguk. Jeon Jeongguk."
"I'm Kim Taehyung," the blue haired guy said, still glaring at the younger.
Jeongguk scoffed at Taehyung. He seemed like a complete idiot, with a head swollen with ego. And Jeongguk was supposed to room with him for a whole year until arrangements could be made to shift the younger with someone in his own year.
Happy freshman year of college, Jeongguk.
