My name is Keyser. Let me tell you a short story about a video game that I've always played when I was young. I've always loved playing it not until....

Back when I was still 7 years old or older I guess, maybe 10. I've always been an inside type of person. Never really liked the environment outside our area. I had friends but never really considered on playing with them outside. I'm just an only child living with my mom. My father left us for a low-class whore but that doesn't really matter anymore.

Since I never really spend too much time at school and never really bothered to go out and play. I've always played video game and it would always take me more than 2 hours to finish or get tired.

One night, as I was starting my play station, a huge buffer in the screen started to show up. It was unusual but because I was still too young to even give a fuck about it. I just shrugged it off and play along with it. After minutes of waiting for it to start-- the screen went bright white. It was so bright that it could've blinded me. There, I assume, the title of the game popped out with bloody red fonts and oddly made avatars surrounding it. "Slash and Dice" was the name of the game. I was confused at first but gave no shit and hit start. The game consisted of a 1st person mode, you are holding a knife. You're found in a very dark basement with only your dim flashlight. Here, you start to hear a very catchy kid's theme song. When you start to explore the room, you get to see people tied up on a chair. The game starts to give you orders-- orders to kill them. Not only kill them, but to slowly slice each of their body parts. I never really paid much attention to the context but it felt weird. The screams while I was doing it sounded so realistic. And each time I kill a person, a picture shows up of an actual dead person.

Ever since, I continued playing and even fought my mom over it. She'd always tell me to stop playing video games and start to mingle outside with other kids. I got addicted to it and it would always give me comfort as a child. But after years of being young and shit. At the age of 17, I stopped playing. More likely, the game ended and was never to be found again.

I went out to different stores to ask about the game. But they'd just give me weird looks and tell me they don't have it. After so many months of looking for it, I gave up.

Until one morning, I was getting ready to go to college, my mom was helping me pack my stuffs. It was then I thought that maybe I should probably apologize for my bad behavior before and ask her about the game I played. I've always thought that the game wasn't really something normal for mere child to play but my mom was always behind me whenever I play. I was curious as to why she never even bothered to scold me about it.

"Mom"

"Yes, John?" still folding my clothes.

"I wanna apologize about before. For always yelling at you and never following your advises to make friends. I guess, I got so caught up with always playing video games"

She smiled and looked at me, "It's okay. At least now you've changed and that's what matters"

I smiled and hugged her. "Anyways, I'm just puzzled"

"About what?"

"When I was always so stubborn and kept on playing the video game that I've became obsessed to, why have you never scolded me?"

She looked at me with such questioning look and gave me a reassuring smile.

"I don't know, John. What is there to scold you when you were always staring at an empty static screen for the rest of the day. It was creepy at first but you were still young so I just let you have the fun"

Until then-- I went out and made friends
