AUGUST 2020

> it was a warm summer morning in the bustling city of seoul. a soft light poured into the room to create a picturesque scene, perfect for instagram likes. lee taeyong, the talented 24-year-old dancer, had just finished a choreography practice and was reaching for his phone to take a picture when it suddenly went off.

he accepted the call and brought it up to his ear. "hello? taeil?"

"hey... i've been working on that song you suggested to write." immediately, he noticed how troubled taeil sounded through the line. "but i don't really think it's that good..."

"what? don't say that," taeyong dug through his duffel bag for his keys and coincidentally came across the lyric sheets taeil forgot at his house. thinking of him working so diligently (on masterpieces) made his lips curve into a soft smile. "i'm sure it's really good. your talent is incredible. you haven't even let me listen to it yet!"

"i don't know... i think i'll just scrap this one."

"you've been scrapping your drafts for the past month. how are you gonna debut without a hit?" he left the studio and was on his way to his car now, ignoring the awed stares from nearby women.

"i didn't have a platform like you did. you grew so fast!" taeil complained. taeyong could picture him running a hand through his hair in frustration. he couldn't blame him when he started off with a large following and was already friends with quite a few popular artists. "i'm starting from scratch and it's not easy."

"nothing is easy." taeyong said this absentmindedly as he looked on at the studio from his car, unaware of just how unhelpful that was. he didn't have time to realize it when an idea suddenly came to mind. "hey, i think i know someone who might be able to help."

"huh? who?"

"he's not that big, but he's really good at what he does." taeyong didn't explain much after that, despite taeil's queries. he only told him to trust him.

there was a pause from taeil. "well... if you're insisting... why didn't you tell me about him sooner?"

"i've been working nonstop with jisung, i couldn't catch a day off. but i'm available for the weekend! i'll help you out now."

taeil, who sat in his living room surrounded by loose papers, sighed into the phone. "thanks for your effort, i guess. i only called to complain but you had me rethinking. i'll see you tomorrow then?"
