THE PLAZA

UNIT : 127 SQUAD

> taeil didn't know what to make of the situation in front of him. yuta and doyoung were nowhere to be seen, johnny's nose was bleeding severely, taeyong was pinning down an enemy, and someone was one move away from death.

they were in the parking lot, just ways away from the plaza's fountain. a few minutes after they realized yuta was gone, doyoung offered to get up on the roof in an effort to find him. shortly after he left, two strangers came barreling out of a nearby shop. johnny tried to break them up (this, taeil didn't understand) and ended up getting hit, thus causing the nosebleed. the rest was blurry.

taeyong claimed to know him, the player held at knifepoint. his name was jaehyun, and he was from the 7th sense. why was he trying to defend someone from the other team? they were all supposed to be going for each other's necks.

"let kun go," the offender said with a scowl. "let him go and i won't kill him."

"you guys attacked first," taeyong argued. his grip stayed tight on kun, who struggled under him. "don't hurt jaehyun and i'll back off."

kun groaned in frustration. "yangyang, just let him go! this wasn't supposed to happen. let's end this peacefully, it's not worth the fight."

yangyang smirked. "not worth the fight... but that's the fun part. that's the point of the game. anything is worth the fight to stay alive and on top. but you're right... we're wasting time. jaehyun here will be thankful for what i'm about to do."

taeil couldn't turn away in time. he'd already seen the blood splatter onto the concrete and taeyong crying out. that was when johnny threw the first punch. yangyang stumbled but quickly gathered himself and within a minute, the rest of the teams have gathered to join the commotion.

taeil moved just in time to dodge a swing from a bat. on the other end stood a rather young-looking player with orange hair and almond eyes, staring him down with a fierce look. something in taeil's brain told him his name was chenle. how did he know this? he had no idea. it was unfathomable to him, so he assumed it was the mechanics of the game.

what mechanics? again, he didn't know.

"it's nothing personal, i'm just up for a fight," chenle said nonchalantly. "are you?"

taeil knew this pumpkin-headed kid didn't care about whether he wanted to fight or not, so he went with the realistic approach: squaring up.
