Chapter 10: The Conversation

Aria's P.O.V.

I pulled into the driveway of the beach house knowing that once we got inside he was going to start asking questions. I got out of the car, grabbed the food out of the backseat, walked up to the house and unlocked it. I did all of this without talking, when Ezra walked in the house he stared at me with a concerned look. I started putting the food away but Ezra stopped me. “Whats wrong?” I didn't look at him and I whispered, “What if this was a mistake?”“Aria, what do you mean? You were more excited to get married then I was.” I looked at him remembering all the times we had s conversation like this, it ended badly. I was holding in tears, “Its to fast. We hadn't even talked for Years, it's almost like you left your fiancé at the alter for a stranger. You would have married Jackie if I didn't switch majors, if I never got the job, if I had never came back-” he interrupted me, “What Job? What are you talking about?” “See what I mean? If we would have had a real conversation, not about love and our lives together. Now I'm going to work in September as Mrs. Fitz, Not the single teacher Ms. Montgomery.” “Teacher? Aria. Talk to me clearly, please.” I took a deep breath, “I went to collage to become a doctor, but I couldn't stay out of the Writing department. I stopped pretending I wanted to be a doctor and changed my schedule. I'm a certified English teacher. I was looking at teaching places in California, but my mom and I were talking, and I got an offer from rosewood high. I'm the new English teacher.” he looked at me amazed, I continued, “Now I get to go teach at the high school I went to, with my old teachers last name.” “The kids wont know that. All you have to tell them is you went to school there and that your married-” I interrupted, “Sure the kids wont know, not until they hear the other teachers are gossiping about it.” he did his nervous laugh wile he spoke, “Aria, you're over thinking.” I stared at him blankly, “Am I? I heard plenty about you. Even some of the teachers thought you were sleeping with a student. There all going to know its true, and guess who got married to-” I stopped talking before I said something I regretted. Ezra was furious, “Married to what? Your high school mistake? The person who ruined your life? Come on, I want to know what I am to you!” tears started running from my eyes, “Ezra, please, don't do this.” he pulled me into a hug, “I'm sorry, but I don't want to lose you over something this stupid.” I accepted his embrace. I looked up at him, he released one arm and softly wiped away my tears, just like he used to.

It was 12 O'clock, we had moved our hug into the living room. We were cuddling on the couch, and by cuddling I mean he laid on the couch and I laid on top of him. We started watching SpongeBob because there was nothing else on. I could feel his heart beat, my heart beat, together they made a symphony. I knew that no matter what, we would be together; forever. If I didn't have him, I wouldn't have a reason to be here, not just here, but any were. I love him, always have, always will. My thoughts ended when Ezra spoke, “Aria?” I looked up at him and smiled, “I want you to know that I love you no matter what happens. Even if I would have married Jackie you would have been the one I thought about every day. You're the love of my life, nothing and nobody could change that.” I smiled and kissed him, “I love you too.” I now realize that even if people don't approve it doesn't matter as long as I have him to pull me through it.
