DATES WERE SOMETHING that the young fairy knew all to well after the fairies lived off a calendar of the season so they could get everything ready for that particular season that the humans in their own realm used to tell time. Lorelei enjoyed the spring season the most, the way she would help the spring fairies grow the flowers and gather up the last touches of frost from the winter season when she wasn't busy with Celeste learning how to become a pixie dust carrier

But apparently dates had another meaning completely in the human realm

It wasn't until lunchtime when Liz had invited the young fairy to join her and her friends so that Lorelei could have something to eat and Liz would never say this out loud but hopefully learn a little bit more about the young woman who just crashed through the ceiling in the middle of their math lesson

They had seen stranger things like aliens dropping from a portal

Liz remembered when she was younger than she would draw pictures of the alien creatures along with the superhero's that protected the city against their advances and she would always give them to her father and he would give her a soft smile that he only reserved for his special girls and told her she was doing a good job but to stop the silly drawings as there wasn't going to be any more events like aliens dropping out of the sky

Little did he know that Liz often wondered if there was anything else out there

And little did she know there was something otherworldly next to her

"So we just had Science?" Lorelei asked dragging Liz out of her train of thoughts, the dark-skinned girl blinked a few times to get rid of her thoughts and looked up at the girls whose eyebrows were pinched together and she looked as if she was completely lost after all Liz would be if she had been homeschooled for most of her life "And nows it's lunch?

"Yes" Liz nods, smiling "Come and join me and my friends"

The young fairy hesitated although put slightly more at ease by the dark-skinned girl's kind smile from what she had learnt from her short time in the human world she learnt that humans could be quite confusing and while Liz seemed nice enough she didn't know what her friends would be like but with a sigh, the fairy in training pushed aside her nervous mind (which was making her head spin since she was still getting used to having more than one emotion in her bigger body)

Swinging the doors open Liz kept a bright smile on her face while Lorelei felt like her heart was going to burst out her chest with how fast it was beating. There was just so many people. And while only a few were looking in her direction (having heard the rumours about the girl crashing through the ceiling) Lorelei felt like all eyes were on her and she couldn't take it anymore

But as quickly as that weird feeling was there in the next it was gone and Lorelei let out a sigh of relief she didn't like feeling that way (whatever the feeling was) and she looked up to see Liz looking at her expectedly and that's when she realised she was still in the middle of the doorway while Liz had tried to spot her friends and began moving towards them when she realised that the dark-haired girl wasn't following her

"Sorry," Lorelei tells her, heat rising to her cheeks before scrambling over to Liz

"What's going on in your head?" Liz asked, concern shining in her eyes

Lorelei let out a massive sigh, not quite sure how to explain to the girl what her emotions were -- mostly because she didn't understand her emotions herself -- so instead she replied with a shy smile "I d-don't know, I guess I didn't really think that there would be so many people"

Liz put a hand on the former fairy's shoulder to calm her down "Hey, it's okay my friends are right over there, they're pretty cool people you'll get along with them and I promise if you feel uncomfortable we can leave and go eat somewhere else"

"O-Okay" Lorelei whispered shakily

Just like that a grin was back on the pretty sophomore's face and she bounded over to her friend's table with Lorelei following awkwardly behind and before either girl could take a seat, a girl with blonde hair and a pale face started to speak "Guys guess what Hunter from math asked me out on a date on Friday"

"Didn't you have a date with Greg last weekend?" Liz let out a silvery laugh

"That was so last week Lizzie" The blonde girl replied with a dismissive wave and Lorelei noticed the black-haired girl who was sitting next to her blonde friend roll her eyes but Lorelei noticed the twitch of a smile on the girls face and she was about to say something but was cut off when a gasp fell from Liz's painted lips

"Cindy, Betty this is Lorelei she's new to the school... at least I think she is the kind of just appeared in the middle of our math lesson this morning" Liz explained, introducing the shy former fairy as her nose wrinkled in confusion as she hadn't actually gotten chance to ask how Lorelei just appeared in the middle of the classroom

"I heard about that" Betty exclaimed excitedly which brought nerves to flutter in Lorelei's chest with how loud and brash the girl seemed to be "Is it true you were kidnapped by aliens and when they didn't get the information they needed out of you, they dropped you from the sky and you fell through the roof

Under the girl's expectant gaze Lorelei found heat rushing to her cheeks "N-No"

The other girl who had been mostly quiet until then knocked into Betty giving her a look that Lorelei didn't quite know what it meant "Knock it off Bets! Can't you see you're scaring the poor girl, it looks like she went through a lot this morning anyhow without you interrogating her"

Betty mumbled an apology and just like that the conversation moved on to dates again
