Ming Leng pov
I rushed over to the training field after I refresh myself. I'm a morning person but today I woke up after the sun high at the sky. I can't sleep properly when I keep hearing Ai Lee groaned in pain last night. The physician keep coming in and out from her room that I worry badly about her condition.
After observing the new soldier training and give them some helpful critic, I went inside my tents to rest. I can't keep my head cool. All I could think of is Ai Lee screaming in pain. If I can, I wanted to take away her pain.
"Leng, you're going to the Zhuo province. Some bandits keep ramping around the city." Ming Lei sudden command shocks me.
If I leave who will look out for Ai Lee? My head have plenty of scenarios where I don't want it to happen. I can't afford to leave right now. Ai Lee is still struggling with her pain.
"Can you assign someone else? We have plenty of raising soldier." I suggested hoping my brother will agree to my solution.
Ming Lei stare at me for a long time before a series of sigh escape from his mouth. I lowered my head in disappointment because I can guess he is not willing to let me stay.
"You have been staying in the manor for a whole year Leng. You can't keep staying here. You need to build you carrier and your future is depending on your achievement right now. This is the most important phase in your life."
I can't even looked at my brother.
"Took some of the elite soldier and capture those bandits as soon as you can. Then you can return here."
"I guess I can do that." I'm unwilling but I need to do what I need to do.
"I know you care for her. Don't worry, we'll keep her safe until you return." My brother patted me on my shoulder before exit the tent.
I crash myself on the bed, feeling exhausted all the sudden. I need two day to reach Zhou Province but I could save time by sending the elite soldier now. I will catch up with them after dawn. After collecting my leftover strength, I went off to selected some soldier then sent them to Zhou province.
After done building strategies and the group go first, I go back to the resident immediately. It almost dawn so I need to finish my business fast if I want to save more time. After tidying up myself, I went straight to Ai Lee room.
"How is she?" I asked Juan when I bump him at the front door.
"Her condition is not improving."
I hate that this physician far way too honest with his words. I nodded because I knew the truth already. All the medicine he's been giving her was just to relieve her pain. It can never heal her completely.
"Is there any other medicine we can try? I will look for it if you have any suggestion."
"I will work on it my lord."
I nodded and he takes his leave. I stood in front of Ai Lee door for a while, thinking to enter or not. I always stood there listen to her groan and cry. Each time that happen, my heart crying inside.
After recover from my negative thought, slowly I slide open the door and saw Ai Lee currently laying on the bad unconscious like always. With my heavy heart, I step in her room placing my foot carefully, not wanting to create any unnecessary sound.
After reaching her bed, I plop beside her and watch her face cover in deep sweat. She is struggling even inside her dream. This scene broke my heart for the thousand times as I wipe off the sweat by my sleeve.
"Get out." She spoke without opening her eyes, maybe she lack the energy to open her eyes.
"I'm not available for few days. I'm off for a mission." Without her concerning about me, I told her the truth.
I don't want her to look for me, wondering if I actually give up on her. I can never give up on her.
"Nice. Don't come back for a long time. I don't want to see you." Her poisonous tone still energetic like ever.
"If you need anything, ask the maid or ask Mi Che. Don't force yourself too hard."
As I wipe her face cleaner, I took her hand and wipe it with the wet cloth, prepare at the side of her bed. She has the maid to clean her sometimes when she totally drench in sweat.
"I really wanted to stay by your side right now but Lei ge said this is an important important task. I can't refuse his command this time, so I need to finish the task as soon as I can."
She stayed in silence.
"But don't worry, I'll be back before you realise it." I put on a cheerful tone to it so that she will not be sad after I'm gone.
Maybe she falled asleep already.
"Lei ge said that I've been staying a whole year at this manor that it might effecting my future. I'm just following what he suggested this time so that he will not complain the next."
I bet she didn't listen any of my crap.
"It doesn't matter if I stay in base or out base, the fact that I'm a talented soldier will never change. I will still lead this Ming Military Army because I'm a Ming child."
After done wiping her hand and fingers, I pull the blanket until her chin to prevent her from the cold. I really need to go now but I can't bring myself to move from this spot. I don't know how long it takes to capture the bandits. If it takes longer than I thought, I'll be missing her badly. I really don't want to leave her like this.
"Wait for me." I said before land a kiss on her forehead.
No matter how many times she rejecting me, I can never give up on this love. I just madly in love with this sick girl.
