第 7 章 - Hiding

Ming Leng pov

I was at the arrow training centre the time Ming Lou come to see me. He serve at the border and I'm really happy having my twins back. Life is a bit lonely without him.

"I saw Ai Lee roam around the east branch resident. She said she wanted fresh air. I let her sit at the bench but her condition doesn't look that good. You should go."

These happen two or three times a month. Sometime it's the servant who will look for me, and sometimes it the maid. That's why I stay nearby in case they need me. Each time Ai Lee out from my sight, something bad happen to her.

I run toward the place Ming Lou mention as he also run along with me. We reach the place but I don't see Ai Lee anywhere. She must be hiding again.

"She was here when I go to look for you." Ming Lou dumfounded. He must be confuse.

"She can't go that far. Search around." I commanded and he nodded.

We both roam around the area but still didn't see Ai Lee. I encounter this situation before. She went into hiding but I found her sooner. This time is a bit different. She roamed too far away from her resident. I must be calmed so that I can't think the best possible place she hides.

"She's no here." Ming Lou reported after he done checking at the west.

"She's not here either." I responded.

"I'll call some soldier to help us look for her. With bigger number, there are bigger chances we'll find her sooner."

"No. I don't want the soldier found her in her weak stated. She will not like it. You know Ai Lee honour her pride more that her health."

"I'll look around again." Ming Lou went off to search for her again.

I still glue on my spot thinking. Ai Lee can't walk that far because she hurt her leg. So she might be hiding somewhere nearby. As I roam around the area slowly, I scanned each possible hiding place and check on it. I'm starting to worry when I didn't found her after searching for some time.

"I check her room but she's not there." Ming Lou returned and reported again.

I'll be grateful if she returned to her room.

"I asked the servant and maid in her resident, but no one saw her either." He added.

I was thinking hard the time that obsolete little hut come to my sight. I haven't checked that place yet. So I march forward and start inspecting it. My heart skips a beat when I see Ai Lee unconscious inside. I tear open the hut and immediately check on her. I sighed in relieve when she still breathing.

"She'll be alright. Don't worry about it." I try console Ming Lou before he starting blaming himself for what happen.

I carried her back to her room and Ming Lou already called Juan to treat her. I told Ming Lou to rest up as I stay with Juan the whole time. If I didn't found her sooner, she might already freeze to death.

"What about the thing I mention to you before?" I remind him about my suggestion the other day.

"I'm still looking at it my lord."

I know it's no use to pressure on Juan to heal her. He's been working hard for two years because of Ai Lee. But I just can't give up on this.

"Please keep her warm. Her body is too weak against cold weather." Juan advises me.

"Thank you for your hard work."

Juan exited the room and I stare blankly at Ai Lee who is lying on the bed. She getting thinner as time pass and she slowly lost her strength. To be honest, I don't know how much time she has left as Juan already tell me the truth. Her current medicine is not working anymore.

"Get out." Ai Lee rough voice reaches me before I'm breaking apart completely.

There is no use asking how is she when I can see clearly how terrible condition she in right now. No matter how angry I am with her stupid whine and act, in the end I always control myself not to be upset on her.

"Please Ai Lee, stop making me worry. I'm alright with you hating me. I'm alright with you not wanted to see me. I'm alright with us being like this but please, stop making me worry."

Today it was different. She was too far from her resident and I took too much time looking for her. She was unconscious. What if I didn't find her on time? What if she wasn't alive when I find her? What if I never see her again?

"I really love you."

"Stop lying. All you said were a big lie. How can you love someone like me? I'm sick. I'm terribly sick. Even myself hate me. So there is no way you can actually have feeling toward me, this handicap person." Her tone full of doubt and resentment.

"It's just a bad day. Not a bad life."

"Get out! Leave me alone!" She started shouting and throwing stuff toward me.

She throw what her hand can reach and the entire room turned messy in no time. Her pillow and blanket scatter on the floor then her cries follow after that. She broke my heart in pieces watching being like this.

"Its alright. Its alright." Is all that I can said.

As I stroke her messy hair and she cried in my embrace, I wonder how long she keep resenting her life.

"You know, it's the god of destruction that test us but if we truly pray toward the god of goodness, he will pity us and grant what we wanted."

"It's a big lie. There is no god."

"I pray that he grant you good health and fill you heart with happy memories each day, so please.. stop torturing yourself."

God of goodness please, heal her so that she will never has to resent her life anymore. I'm alright with her hating me as long as she lives her life happily. I'm willing to exchange that with my life. Please, grant my pray.
