Shuichi's Pov
I woke up in a rather unfamiliar place, where I could barely make out the shape of the tall, unknown woman peering over me through my blurry vision. I felt my heart pounding and immense pressure on every inch of my body, making me feel rather claustrophobic. My first instinct was to yell in a panic, but I soon realized where I was and quickly stopped
myself. "Congratulations Shuichi, you've survived the killing game!" The woman said in a cheerful tone. I was confused for the first ten seconds or so, until suddenly the memories came flooding back. "H..huh? Why am I..here? What..just happened?" I stuttered, still scared out of my mind. "It was all a simulation, you're in a hospital now. We brought you here before the killing game to make sure you didn't die from shock. It's all good now, though." I was left speechless for a few seconds. Does this mean my friends are alive? Does this mean I'm not a fictional character? "W..what about the other participants...what about the people who died...WHERE ARE THEY?"- "They're alright. They're just resting in another room." The woman said, trying to calm me down. "C..can I see them?" She looked to her right. "Yes, but not right now. You're still very panicked and lightheaded." I blinked a few times and kept my mouth shut. I felt so tired that I couldn't even begin to comprehend what just happened. I was just happy to have my friends alive. I was just glad to know I'd see them in a few hours, and life would go back to normal.

The woman, likely a nurse, left the room, leaving me alone for what I expected to be a few minutes. But minutes turned into hours, and I was left with my own thoughts, driving myself crazy from how impatient I was to see the others. Watching them die was the worst experience I ever had, and waiting so long, knowing they're alive but being unable to see them, it makes everything worse. Are they awake? Are they still recovering? Are they asleep? I found myself longing for the nurse to come back, or at least to hear a voice come from another room, but the whole day it was just total silence, driving me insane and making me feel even more desperate.

It was likely almost nighttime when I heard the nurse's voice again. She was talking to another nurse outside of my hospital room. I tried to listen to what they were saying, but I was unable to understand them.

The nurse from earlier opened the door and the relief I felt was overwhelming. "How are you feeling?" she asked. "I'm alright. I mean, I haven't really felt nauseous or anything so I guess I'm fine. I'm more stressed out than feeling sick..." The nurse paused for a minute or so and scribbled something in a file she was carrying. "Alright then. I suggest going to sleep now, tomorrow you can see your friends again." Great. I have to wait for the whole night. "Are you feeling any pain? You look very uncomfortable." "No no no it's fine. I'm just a bit annoyed that I have to wait another night and stuff you know?" "That's totally understandable," she nodded, "but it's better for you to get some rest, please trust me with that and promise me you won't try to sneak out." I was defeated, there was nothing I could do to make her change her mind. She was probably right anyways. "I understand." "That's good. Now sleep well, I'll go check on you again tomorrow morning. Night!"
She left the room, and after an hour or so, I finally fell asleep.

Alright so my uploading schedule is like every sunday or so. I might post earlier sometimes if I have enough motivation and stuff. Anyways hopefully I didn't do too bad for my first time writing a fanfic. And sorry this chapter was short. I swear this is gonna be the shortest in the whole book, trust me.
