Chapter 19

A month and a half later.
When I woke up that morning I realized what day it was. It was my mother's 42nd birthday and My sisters prom day. Everyone was gathered for the monthly brunch. When I said everyone I meant my family and the uchihas. I sighed knowing I wasn't going to get a break today. I rolled out of my bed going into my bathroom I took a long and hot shower before going into my closet. I didn't want to go to prom because it had never been something that peaked my interest. I grabbed my black underwear set before putting on a purple hoodie crop top and black ripped skinny jeans. I combed my hair putting it in two braids everyone seemed to love the colors at the tips of my hair.
I put on some earrings and lip gloss before heading out with my car keys and phone. Getting into my car I headed over to the uchiha estate where the uchihas we're hosting brunch for my mother. When I arrived I saw everyone was already there and talking casually at the table except glenise. She looked at me her gaze anything but warm and welcoming. I went to wash my hands sitting down next to raiden and Itachi.
"Happy birthday" I said to my mom smiling as she grinned even wider.
"Thank you" she said as I nodded.
"So how is everyone doing" Mrs mikito asked as I looked to see she was looking specifically at Mina who proudly showed her baby bump.
"Good" Mina said beaming as I smiled.
I could tell this baby was going to change mina, I didn't know weather it would be a good or bad thing but I was hopping for a good change.
"Naru what's got you smiling" Nagato asked me.
"Just thinking" I said as he nodded as everyone at the table turned to me.
"Tell us again why you didn't want to go to prom" kurama asked me.
"Not interested or really fond of it" I said as glenise looked at me.
"You don't have to wear a dress. You know that right if you want to go to prom with your girlfriend be proud of it" she said as I looked at her.
"Glenise I'm not gay" I said amused as Raiden choked on his water coughing.
"Far from it actually" I said.
"Could've fooled me" she muttered.
"Why is that" I asked sitting up straight.
"You don't wear feminine clothing, you don't want to go to prom, you don't want kids, and so much more" she said as I grinned knowing when she found out I was dating her grandson she would hate it.
"Well mother Naru isn't gay" faguko said as everyone looked at him
"Have none of you seen the viral videos" he asked as I looked at him.
"I only know about the first one" I said as he chuckled. Mina smirked unlocking her phone as she went to a video saved in her camera roll.
It was one of me trying to make itachi mad, then another of him teaching me to shoot a gun, then him letting me drive his car.
"Are you serious" I said as she nodded.
"All those viral videos have people who have at least one characteristic going on live claiming to be the one your with"menma said.
"Yeah some even believe you have a sugar daddy" kurama said as I choked on my spit.
"Are you serious" I said as everyone nodded.
"I was tempted to put my screen shots online but I stopped" Mina said as I looked at her confused. She tossed me her phone as I unlocked it. I scrolled through her camera roll to see when ever me and Mina were on face time around itachi she screen shotted pictures of us.
"That's creepy" Raiden said as I nodded. I tossed her the phone realizing how idiotic my family will feel when they realize my boyfriend has literally been around them thousands of times and they never noticed.
"So all we know is that he is the heir to a company" sasuke said as everyone nodded.
"Can you give us another hint" my father asked as I laughed shaking my head.
"What about me it's my birthday" my mom said as I rolled my eyes at her remark.
"His best friend is an uchiha" I said as they looked at the uchihas who faked surprise.
"Itachi what about your bestfriend" Mina asked
"My bestfriend is engaged" he responded.
"Uh I need a list of every uchiha" my father said as I rolled my eyes.
"Will do... with or without phone numbers" itachi asked.
"Phone numbers and pictures" my father said humming lightly.
"Y'all are so weird, so what are you going to say? Oh I know hey random uchiha I have never met a day in my life your bestfriend may be dating my daughter can you tell him to give me a call" I said as my father looked at me before nodding.
"Ridiculous" Raiden said shaking his head at my father who just grinned.
"I make no apologies for the stalker she made me" he said as mina giggled.
"So can we get some initials" Nagato asked me.
"Mom how has your birthday been so far" I asked her as she raised an eyebrow.
"Avoiding the subject well it's been good are you girls and sasuke anxious" my mother asked.
"Very much so" Mina said as sasuke nodded.
"About" I asked her.
"Your graduation" she said as I shrugged.
"I have time" I said as she stopped cutting her pancake looking at me.
"Sasuke I thought your graduation was Saturday" Itachi offered as sasuke nodded.
"Yeah three days" sasuke answered.
"Wait what three days" I said as everyone looked at me.
"Tsk tsk tsk you really have been off with your dates lately it's may 22nd" my mom said as I stared at her.
"I know your birthday but time has really been flying" I said as she nodded.
"So who is top of your class" Nagato asked smugly.
"Wouldn't you like to know valedictorian" kurama muttered.
"Hey there is nothing wrong with that" I said as everyone at the table looked at me.
"It's Naru" Mina said selling me out as I glared at her.
"Ha that's two" my father said holding his hand up to high five me as I stared at him confused.
"Him and rasa having that petty competition"my mother told me.
"Gaara is valedictorian as well" she said as I smiled.
"I'll have to call and congratulate my boo thang later and curse him out for not telling me" I said.
"So gaara is the name of your lover" sasuke asked as I scrunched my nose in disgust.
"Ew no gaara is my god brother who is very much so gay" I said as mina nodded.
"So when will we know who your lover is" glenise said.
"Can y'all stop referring to him as a lover it sounds like your implying" I paused but kurama continued.
"Sounds like y'all fuck" he said as I threw a fork at him barely missing his face.
"Sorry that was the first instinct" I said as kurama reached down picking up the fork.
"Just like mama" he said in horror as my mom laughed.
"But he is right every time your around each other and you jump on him and the live ends it does imply that your about to have sex" Mina said as I looked at her.
"Betrayal and we do not" I said blushing as I covered my cheeks.
"Yeah ok" sasuke said.
"Can we talk about something else" I asked as the uchihas looked at me amused.
"You look like a tomato" Itachi pointed out.
"Really thanks for making it well known that I look like a vegetable" I said glaring at him as he shrugged.
"It's true" Raiden said.
"Ok" i said slapping both of them upside their head.
"Anybody else want to comment I look like a tomato" I asked
"Well how about an Apple" my father offered. I glared at him before I saw that glenise was openly staring at itachi who was looking through work files saved in his phone.
"Itachi she just smacked you" glenise said stating the obvious.
"Yeah and" he asked not even glancing up at her.
Everyone at the table turned to look at her.
"That's grounds to sue" she said as everyone looked at her. I laughed before covering my mouth with my hand.
"On what grounds" itachi asked her. She shut her mouth then.
"I didn't think so" he said finally looking at her.
"Ooh we should plan a big graduation ceremony" Mrs mikito said suddenly.
"Can't" Mina said as everyone looked at her.
"Naru leaves for college that same day she got into a head start program" my mom said as everyone looked at me.
"Congrats" faguko said as I nodded in thanks.
"So what college is everyone going to" madara asked.
"We are going to Konoha state university" Mina said referring to her and sasuke. Although Mina wouldn't start on campus college until the fall semester. Until then she was taking up the good ole computer.
"I'm going to university of suna" I said as everyone at the table looked at me.
"What really" my mom said shocked. No one knew where I was going, I just told them I was leaving early.
"Yep" I said my mom had bad history with suna because her dad left my grandma and moved there but the school was very prestigious and I couldn't give up the opportunity it was only forty five minutes away luckily.
"Wow" faguko said and I didn't know how to read that.
"Uh can you stop staring at me please" I said as they all looked away.
"Wow why did you choose that school" Nagato asked.
"They called me everyday three times a day and I finally looked into it and applied and like a week later I got my acceptance letter" I said shrugging.
"Wow" madara said.
"Ok what's with the wows" I said as everyone looked at me.
"That school only lets on top five in the nation" itachi said as I looked down at my plate.
"Yeah itachi turned them down" glenise said as everyone's eyes went to itachi.
"I wasn't interested nothing more nothing less stop talking" he said glaring at glenise who rolled her eyes.
"Yeah he wanted better he was too hard working for that dumb school, itachi has been working really hard lately. Last week he stayed up everyday working on paperwork not an ounce of sleep he told us not to talk about it but I just wanted to show he is a hard worker." Glenise said as itachi gritted his teeth. I looked down at my plate as my leg started shaking with anger. Itachi broke his promise and didn't even want me to know. He knew I was going to break up with him. I took a deep breath. I felt itachi try to grab my hand as I pulled it away. Wait until we're alone I'm breaking up with him. He needs to make himself a priority and start getting some sleep and one way I can make sure that happens is to break up with him. Suddenly my phone started ringing I saw it was shikamaru.
I answered my phone.
"Hello" I said.
"Hey Naru sorry to bother you but I got called into the station and temari is at work and the baby sitter is sick do you think you can watch rose for me" he asked.
"Yeah sure I'm on my way" I said standing up.
"Your a life saver thanks" he said as I hung up.
"I'm going to get rose" I told my family as they all looked at me shocked.
"Is it really you Naru" kurama asked me as I giggled.
"Yes loser, what I'm gonna be an aunt might as well get used to kids" I said before dismissing myself. While I was driving itachi started blowing my phone up with text messages.
I responded after the millionth text.
"Leave me alone uchiha" it said as I tossed my phone in the back seat driving. When I arrived at shikamaru and temari's house I parked my car walking to the door as shikamaru opened it handing me the diaper bag and car seat. I put her in my car before speeding off. I parked the car going into the house. I sat rose on my bed as she crawled into my lap clapping her hands. We looked through a bunch of town houses in suna until I found the perfect one to stay in. The college said they were willing to work a schedule out for me to where I could handle my heiress duties. And they also granted me access to determine my own living situation as long as they were my top candidates.
By the time I had found and paid for the townhouse it was almost three.
"Now or never rose" I said grabbing her and my car keys as I drove to itachis house. I found him in the in home gym punching the shit out of a punching bag. I held rose tightly on my hips as I coughed getting his attention as he turned looking at me.
"Naru look I'm so sorry" he said. I looked in his eyes to see his apology was genuine.
"I don't accept" I said as rose held her hands out for itachi.
"No rose he might pass out while holding you" I said glaring at itachi. I seemed to have taken it too far because his eyes held a down cast look.
"I'm sorry it's just you lied to me and tried to hide it!!" I said as he looked down.
"Let me explain" he said as I nodded for him to start talking.
"Your addicting and I can't help it I want to spend as much time with you as possible Damn the consequences " he said as I looked at him.
"I'm sorry but I can't live with myself knowing you are working yourself to much to where you don't get any sleep" I said as he frowned.
"I'm breaking up with you..." I started feeling my heart break but I stayed together.
"Until you don't have all of this on your plate, until your finished with school and your training is done we're done ok" I said as a tear slid down his face.
"I'm sorry to say it like that and it may sound like I'm attention seeking but really I do love you and I wish we didn't have so much on our plates but I won't allow you to over work yourself. So yeah that's all" I said as he nodded.
"I just want you to know... I knew you were going to break up with me and I had to go some where any where and I ended up at a jewelry store and I bought this engagement ring. And I just have one question" he said looking at me as I nodded.
"Would you have said yes if I were to have gotten down on one knee today" he asked me as I looked deep in thought before shaking my head.
"Not until you made time for yourself" I said as he nodded.
"Well here keep this as a gurantee that we will be getting back together before your eighteenth birthday and I will be asking you to marry me real soon and also no amount of sleep is going to stop me from getting back together with you as soon as I can" he said kissing me one final time with all the passion he could muster a silent tear fell down my face.
"I love you Naru uzumaki namikaze" he said through gritted teeth as another tear fell down his face.
"I love you more Itachi uchiha" I said before releasing him and turning as I speed walked down the stairs wiping my eyes as I got in my car driving to the cemetery. I held rose as I sobbed my heart away until no more tears would come out. I had to keep my mind busy I decided wiping my eyes before driving back to the house. I washed my face with a wipe before walking inside. I saw my mom pacing as all my siblings sat on the couches my father rubbing his temple.
"What's going on" I asked confused trying to sound normal.
"And what's wrong with you" my mom asked me sounding annoyed.
"Excuse me" I asked confused
"She is trying to piece everything together. Menma got a girl pregnant, Nagato is getting married, Mina and kurama have kids on the way as well and well I tried to commit suicide and We all over booked her for this week" he said as I nodded.
"Well you guys have your hands full I'll just um call tenten" I said running upstairs before tears started again. I texted tenten a simple sentence.
'I just broke up with itachi' I wiped my eyes putting rose to sleep before going into my closet as I started reorganizing and packing up. Suddenly my bedroom door burst open as tenten zoomed into the closet.
"Why did you do it" she asked me shocked as I shrugged taking my mind off of it.
"Naru are you gonna cry" she asked me as I shook my head.
"Do you want to cry" she asked me
"No why are you asking" I asked her.
"Because if you don't want to cry that means your trying to keep yourself busy which isn't good" she said as I laughed.
"I'm fine tenten" I said as she rolled her eyes.
"So who all knows" she asked
"You... my family were busy with their own problems mine are so minuscule compared to theirs" I said as she glared at me.
"Their is nothing minuscule about a heart break" she said before walking off. I didn't pay her any mind until I heard foot steps in my room. I looked up to see my mom staring at me in shock mina right behind her.
"You guys broke up" Mina shouted as I laughed a sob coming with it.
"Yeah" I said shrugging. I didn't like their pity filled glances.
"No no you two were meant for each other why did you break up? Did he cheat on you" Mina asked me as I shook my head.
"What is it" my mom asked me. I closed my eyes leaning back as I bite my bottom lip.
"I promise we didn't break up on any bad terms in fact it's really just a break until we get at good places in our lives" I said as they let out breaths of relief.
"Is their a certain date" my mom asked.
"He says my birthday" I said opening my eyes to see mina had her hands over her mouth as she cried.
"Hormones" I asked as she nodded. I embraced her as she cried.
When she was finished they both left to give me some space. I sat on my bed staring up at the ceiling. I looked at the ring turning it with my fingers.
All that went through my head was
'did I do the right thing.'

Time skip to graduation.
I stood up on the podium about to give my speech as people kept interrupting me with photos and questions about itachi.
"Can everyone stop with the questions" I asked as they looked at me confused. I saw my family in the back ground sitting next to the uchihas. Itachi was there smirking.
"Ok so hi everyone I'm Naru uz-" I was cut off as everyone in the audience cheered.
"I'm Naru uzumaki namikaze. I could go back and reminisce about the last four years. Instead I think it's more important to focus on where we will be in the next four years. Whether it's baking great bread, cooking up laws in the senate, teaching futures generations, or creating new music, all of us must make sure the word success is associated with what we do.

We must concentrate on enhancing our futures and setting great examples for those who love us and for those who will follow us. We must be tomorrow's positive images. Our actions must make a statement and send a clear message. One that says, wherever we come from, whatever we have, or don't have, whatever our color, sex or cultural background, we can be partners in success and we can achieve greatness together,

In order to have high self esteem, confidence, and motivation we must be willing to work diligently and have a keen understanding of how far we can go. Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, "Do not go where the path may lead; go instead where there is no path and leave a trail." Let us leave a trail others will be proud to follow.

If you feel at any point, that life is becoming too hard and that obstacles are coming from left and right. Please don't panic. Remember that life can get better, if we have the right tools to work with. Tools like a positive attitude, an education, the right friends and fierce determination.

Class of 2020, It is up to all of you to make a difference, to have people say honorable things about you and leave the impression that you never gave up on yourselves. Society is counting on you. Excellence is never an accident- it's the result of hard work. Go forward, work hard, and attain excellence; the kind of excellence that will make your dreams reality. A secure future can be reality you must visualize tomorrow  a safe, happy, prosperous tomorrow and make it happen.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the teachers and administrators who worked so hard to make us reach this commencement ceremony. To my parents, thank you for not letting me into a great black hole. To my family, I treasure your unconditional love and support. I hope I made you proud.

Class of 2020, good luck and remember graduation is only the beginning." I read over the loud applauses before I picked up my paper walking off the stage as everyone cheered. I stopped taking pictures before the recessional. I walked off the stage right behind Mina as we took our pictures with our parents and family before taking our seat.
I twisted the ring anxiously before we were dismissed. I walked out into the courtyard as my family found us. They continued talking as I twisted the ring not paying any attention. Before I knew it I was in my car heading off to Suna.
