THE four girls were lazying around in the room that belonged to Max and Georgie for the school year. Max lay on her single bed with her feet propped up against the wall and her head and long hair hanging off the side of the bed. Georgie was sitting cross legged at the top of the bed while the other to girls layed around on Georgie's bed opposite them.

Max and Georgie were lifelong best friends, their parents got along well which caused the two girls to be the same. They had been introduced to Marie and Lilly in middle school and the four of them had stuck together for years, all through middle school, Milburn Prep, and now in their final year of schooling at Welton Academy.

"We're in the same classes, right?" Max questioned as she stared up at the ceiling above her.

"Most of them." Lilly replied, tiredly. The foursome were  bored out of their minds. The rooms were rather small and there was nothing exciting in them or about them. And they weren't very close with the other girls that were in their year. Max Wheeler searched her brain for an idea for something to do to pass the time. Suddenly she started to grin as she remembered a boy they used to know. "Lill," she said, addressing her friend who glanced over. "I might be mistaken, but doesn't our dear friend Perry attend school here?"

Marie and Georgie both mockingly gasped and looked at Lilly as well. "By George, I believe he does!" Georgie teased and the three girls laughed as Lilly got on to them all. "Oh, stop it, will you? We haven't seen him in ages!"

Max sat up straight and faced Lilly, excitement was dancing in her eyes. "Exactly!" She exclaimed and jumped up and darted out of the room. Laughing and cheering, Marie and Georgie shot up in pursuit of their friend. Lilly groaned and followed them.

Max turned around to send a teasing look at Lilly and as she glanced behind her, she crashed into a figure straight in front of her and fell right on top of them, she let multiple profanities fly carelessly out of her mouth. When she came to her senses, and realized that she was on top of a boy, she hurriedly scrambled to her feet. Her friends behind her were in fits of laughter at her. Max found that the person she had knocked over was the boy that she had briefly interacted with at the dull ceremony earlier and she couldn't stop her face from breaking into a wide smile. "Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't see you."

The boy, too, was grinning at her. They didn't break eye contact as they shook hands and he introduced himself to her. "Charlie Dalton."

"Max Wheeler," she stated and when she heard Lilly's giggles behind her, she was reminded of what she was running off to in the first place. She raised her eyebrows and kept the smile on her face. "You wouldn't happen to know a Neil Perry, would you?" She asked, smiling sweetly at him.

"I do, in fact we were going to his room." He told her and Max grinned madly. "Excellent, take us along."

Lilly gave her a sharp kick in the back of the leg, while the others all felt as if they were intruding on something. For the first time, Max noticed the other boys alongside Charlie and offered them all smiles. Their names were Knox Overstreet and Steven Meeks, the four girls politely introduced themselves.

When they located Neil Perry's room, Max pushed herself in front of the three boys. "Hey, Perry," she greeted happily. "Long time no see."

"Max?" Neil asked in happy disbelief. Max steeped forward, laughing, and gave him a quick hug. The other girls did the same. "You remember Lilly?" Georgie grinned, indicating to Lilly. Neil smiled at her and nodded, "I do."

Lilly gave him a quick smile before she gave Max a slight push which made her lose her balance and stumble, yet again, onto Charlie Dalton. She managed to catch herself from falling but still knocked into the boy. Charlie smirked at her. "Just can't keep away from me."

Max stammered, trying to come up with a snarky reply but none came to her. Her friends watched her and were slightly surprised, boys never had this kind of affect on her. She looked so flustered. She awkwardly ran her fingers through her hair. When the smell of nicotine hit her she turned to see Charlie with a cigarette in his mouth. Her longing for a smoke was obvious and he offered it to her, she eagerly took it from him and took a drag. She threw her head back as she exhaled the smoke. "Holy shit, I needed that." She breathed out, after a few more puffs she handed the cigarette back to the boy before he took a seat on Neil Perry's bed. Both boys and girls were then acquainted with Todd Anderson, who was new to Welton and was Neil's new roommate.

There was a knock at the door and there was a few short moments of panic as they tried to hide the evidence of the smoke and Neil Perry yelled at the person, "it's open!"

On the other side was a person the four girls had met on several occasions and weren't very fond of - Mr Perry. He seemed surprised to be reunited with the four girls, he hadn't expected to see them. Max plastered on a fake smile and nodded to him. "Hi, Mr Perry." She said sweetly, trying to hide her dislike towards the man, her friends did the same thing.

"Oh, hello, girls. How are you?" He asked, politely, though they knew he was only asking for the sake of it.

"Good." Max nodded, uncomfortably. All the boys had risen to their feet at the presence of Neil's father. "It's, um, good to see you again, sir." Max lied.

When the father and son had left the room to discuss things together, Max let out a heavy breath and looked over at Georgie. "Pretentious prick," she stated and Georgie grinned back in response.

Max sat down on a bed and looked around smiling at the other people in the room. Charlie sat down next to her almost immediately . He didn't hesitate to try and strike up conversation with her. "So, you're here because your schools being rebuilt?"

"Hm, that's not all." Marie said, shaking her head, when heads turned to look at her she took the liberty of explaining. "Max and Georgie got us all sent here because of the so called 'jokes' they played."

Charlie raised his eyebrow as he stared at Max. "What do you mean?"

Max and Georgie were exchanging looks and beaming at each other. "Just a few firecrackers in the headmaster's office," she recounted her and her best friend's actions proudly. "Science experiments 'gone wrong'. Just small things like that."

The other boys were gaping at the girls while Charlie was grinning at Max, she glanced over at him and she bit her lip, trying to hide her nervous smile and concealed it well. Moments later they left Todd Anderson in the room to find Neil. His father was gone and it was clear to see the boy was upset.

The four girls watched awkwardly as Charlie and Knox tried telling Neil to tell his dad off and Max announced to them that they were going back to their rooms. They were offered small smiles as they turned their backs and retreated.
