Chapter 11: Roman's Robot

Zayne's POV

"Please tell me you have a plan, Blake!" I yelled. 

"I'm on it!"

Blake quickly opened her Scroll to try and contact everyone. We both knew that someone would come and chase us down, but we didn't know how long we had. Probably some thugs or that prototype Paladin would come after us. 

"Everyone, can you hear me?" Blake asked. "We're in need of backup!" 

Suddenly I heard glass shattering and the Paladin started running towards us.

"THERE'S A ROBOT CHASING US!" I shouted. "IT'S REALLY BIG!"

Ruby piped into the call. "Oh I am not missing this!" she exclaimed. 

"That Torchwick guy's probably in it controlling it!" Blake explained. 

Yang and Yumi entered in and asked, "Where are you guys?"

Blake and I headed towards a road with several buildings and I spotted Yang's motorbike. "Over here!" I shouted.

"Just don't die before we get there," Yumi said.

"I just hope the others know where we are now," Blake said. "We're gonna have to lure it away somehow from all the buildings." 

"I have an idea!" I shouted as I took Blake's scroll. "Everyone, make your way to the outside of the city! We'll meet you there and we'll corner that Paladin!"

"Wait, what do you mean, Zayne?" Blake asked. 

"Have you already forgotten what I can do?" I replied with a smirk. "It's pretty dark here too if you catch my drift. Hopefully, I don't step the wrong way." Blake finally understood and grabbed my hand as we ran. I concentrated for a few seconds and we teleported onto a city road. Thankfully the freeway wasn't busy so luckily we didn't crash into a car. We stopped running and readied our weapons. It wasn't long until Yang and Yumi located us and stopped over near us. 

"Good thing you guys are in one piece," Yumi smiled. "But that Paladin is gonna be here soon."

"It must have seen us while we were making our way towards you both. We have at least a minute or two before it shows up." Yang explained. 

"Well then, I'll go make sure the others are doing okay. I can for sure get Weiss, Ruby, and Emma since they're all together. 

"Uh, actually...I may or may not have....caught up with Penny while Weiss and Emma made the call," Ruby piped in slowly. Blake shook her head in disappointment while I rolled my eyes. 

"Typical Ruby," I teased. "Always getting distracted by shiny things." Ruby made a raspberry noise from the other line. "Alright then, I'll go fetch Weiss and Emma." 

"I'll zip over there quickly!" Ruby responded. I concentrated on Weiss and Emma's location and evaporated from Blake, Yang, and Yumi's sight. I appeared in front of Weiss and Emma as they were running down the street where the Paladin had caused damage to some of the buildings. 

"Geez, Zayne!" Weiss shouted. "You nearly scared me half to death!" Emma looked a little shocked as well, but not nearly as much as Weiss did. 

"Don't worry Weiss, you'll get used to it after a while. That's probably the reason why I don't get scared by him anymore," Emma giggled. Weiss made a face at Emma while she shrugged her shoulders in response. 

"Alright alright, enough girl talk," I interrupted. "The others need our help. Grab my hands, ladies." I held out my hands as they both took them and waited for me to teleport back. Hopefully, I have enough strength to do this again,  I thought to myself. I took a deep breath and concentrated with all my might. It took a little longer to actually teleport, but after a few seconds, the three of us appeared alongside the others.
