"Daryl?" I couldn't believe it. It was him.
He glared at me. "Abbey." Venom laced his voice.
Rick looked between us. "You two know each other?"
"Something like that." I answered. I glared right back at him.
Flashback
"Merle! Get off me!" I was used to this. I always knew Merle had an interest in me.
"Come on baby. Lets have a little fun." His breath reeked of his homemade moonshine.
"No. You know Daryl and I are together. Now get off!" Daryl and I had been dating for almost a year now. I loved him so much.
"He wont mind." Merle started to kiss down my neck, sucking on the skin.
I tried to push him off. He was too strong."Yes he will! Get off now!" I yelled at him.
He wouldn't let go. He moved his hands down to my belt and started to undo it.
"Abbey? Merle?" Daryl walked over.
"Its not what it looks like." I told him.
"She came on to me." Merle told him.
I stared at him in disbelief. "That's not what happened!" I yelled.
Daryl glared at me. "How could you?"
"Thats not what happened!" I cant believe he didn't trust me.
"Merle?" He asked.
"Come on brother, why would I lie to you? She's been trying to get with me ever since I met her." He lied straight to Daryl's face.
"I thought you loved me Abbey! How could you?" He sounded heartbroken.
" I love you Daryl! And you love me too! I would never do that to you!"
"How could anyone love you?" I felt like he stabbed me in the chest. How could he be so cruel?
"If thats how you feel!" I started sobbed and I ran home to my drunk father.
End
I turned and walked away. I didnt want them to see me cry. I can't remember the last time I cried. Seeing him again struck something in me. I heard footsteps behind me.
"Go away."
"Are you alright?"
I sniffed. "Im fine."
I made it back into the cell. I collapsed on the bed and turned to face the wall. I haven't even been here for a day and I already want to leave this place for good. No. I will not give him the satisfaction. I'm staying here. So far these people seem good. I did what Hershel said and went to sleep.
--------------------------------------------------------
I woke up to someone lightly shaking me.
Beth was hovering over me. "Dinner is ready. I brought you these." She gestured to some crutches.
"Thanks." I smiled.
"You're welcome." She smiled back. I decided I liked her. She seemed nice.
I grabbed the crutches and followed her out to where everyone was eating. They all looked at me. I avoided his eyes even though I could feel them piercing through me like knives.
"Hi. Im Abbey." I awkwardly waved. I hate being the center of attention, I always have.
Rick cleared his throat. He pointed to a boy who looked like he was in his early teens. "This is my son, Carl." Carl waved. He didn't look too happy.
A girl with short brown hair walked up to me. "I'm Maggie. My husband saved your life." She laughed.
A woman who looked in her 40s piped up. "I'm Carol."
"It's nice to meet you all." I said.
"Tell us about yourself." Glenn said.
"Yeah, tell us about yourself." I looked over to Daryl who was smirking.
I looked him in the eyes. "There's not much to say." I kept my eyes on him.
I could feel the mood in the room shift to being very awkward.
Rick cleared his throat again. "Are you hungry?" He asked.
I took my eyes off of Daryl. "Yes. Very." The last time I ate was a couple days ago.
Rick handed me a plate. "What is this?"
"Squirrel. You do like squirrel, right?" Daryl asked. Why did he keep embarrassing me?
"Sounds great."
I sat down and ate with everyone, making small talk. I could feel Daryl's eyes on me the whole time.
What was his problem?
