"Aye, wake up." Somebody said shaking me.

"Go away," I said pulling the cover over my head.

"Nyla, get up." I heard Toosii say.

"How many times you gon come in here and tell me to get up?" I asked him.

"However many times it takes. You can't sleep all day just because you're sad." He said snatching the cover from me.

"I can do what I want. I don't see how anything I do concerns you." I said trying to get the cover back.

"Micak is busy right now and she told me not to let you lay in bed all day." He said to me.

"What she doesn't know won't hurt her," I said waving him off.

"Aight, I guess we both gon be laying around then." He said climbing into the bed next to me.

"Toosii, please go away. I'm really not in the mood for yo games." I said to him.

"What games? I'm just tryna chill." He said to me.

"I can't wait till I find my own place," I said turning away from him.

"Why? So you can cry and sleep all day?" He asked turning me back around.

"And what's so bad about that?" I asked him.

"It's not good for you." He said to me.

"It's not good for me? What's not good for me is that every other day I have to act like I'm okay when I'm not. I just want this one day, Toosii. Can I have that?" I asked him.

"Yeah, come here." He said pulling me into a hug.

"I'm sorry, I-."

"No, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have pushed you." He said to me.

I hugged him tightly and laid my head on his chest. He rubbed his hand up and down my back. We sat there a while in silence.

"Thank you," I said to him.

"For what?" He asked me.

"For everything. Mostly, just thank you for being with me right because I honestly didn't want to be alone." I said to him.

"I got you." He said to me.

"I know. Because you care about me right?" I asked him.
