Following the horrific sound, you held onto the last shard of consciousness you had. But you'd rather let it go, since all you could feel was immense pain coming from your side, head, arm and leg. You barely opened your eyes, taking in your surroundings. Your car had gotten into a head-on collision, but it had also hit the guard rail on the right of the road.

"Fuck," you managed to groan out, strained.

Your head had hit the window, and you could feel a lot of pain coming from the left side of it. Before you could examine the rest of yourself, you heard the driver's door open.

"Hello? Yes, 911? Please send an ambulance! Right now!" A female voice spoke and paused.

"I think she's still alive but PLEASE HURRY," the voice panicked. "Near the local mall, two streets down going West!" She informed.

You could feel blood trickling down your chin, and your arm. Fuck, you were in so much pain.

"Miss? Please hold on," The voice spoke. Your sight got more and more blurred by the second.

You grunted weakly in response, feeling your breath shorten. Coughing, you wiggled around, but failed, too hurt to move.

"Keep your eyes open!" The stranger cried. You heard faint sirens in the distance, and the woman let out a small breath of relief.

Everything was a blur right now. You could no longer keep your eyes open, so you let them shut. Slowly, the pain started to fade away, and your mind began to shut down. You thought about Calum, but the thought didn't last long because the blaring of sirens seemed like it was right beside you now.

"Excuse me, Miss, please move away from the car," a deep voice spoke in a hurry.

It felt like your lungs were about to collapse, and your phone rang again.

"Can you breathe? Hold on, it'll be alright. Keep your eyes open," some male voices said.

Too weak to answer, or even grunt, you took a strained breath, and felt yourself shut down.

----------

Next thing you knew, you felt a small sense of comfort. A bed? A pillow? What is going on? Wasn't I just in a car crash?

You struggled to open your eyes, but succeeded. White was all you could see before your eyes adjusted to your surroundings. A hospital? You were in a hospital, on a bed. Okay, you got that much.
You wiggled your fingers, feeling a soft fabric, the bed sheet. But you couldn't move them for long, a sharp pain coming from your arm, near your shoulder. Slowly, but painfully, turning your head, you see your left arm in a cast. That's why you could only move your fingers, barely.

"Oh! Doctor! She's awake! Doctor!" A female voice shouted, your vision making out a nurse.

A doctor came rushing in, running towards the side of your bed.

"Miss (Y/L/N), how are you feeling?" He asked calmly.

You opened your mouth to speak, but nothing came out. You licked your lips, and the previous nurse gently put a cup of water up to your lips, tilting it, allowing the cool liquid to spread through your mouth and down your throat.

"I-I'm not sure," you barely choked out, your mouth sounding very dry. You tried clearing your throat, but struggled, so the nurse gave you another sip of water. Your arms were both in pain, but the left more than the right.

"Okay, well, I think you know, but you have survived a head-on collision car crash. You did pass out, for three days to be exact, but it looks like you'll be perfectly fine in a few months. Just need to relax and allow yourself to heal." The doctor smiled, giving your hand a slight squeeze.

You nodded your head, unable to speak still, and the doctor walked away. As he was at the door, he informed the nurse to "call if anything".

Continuing in examining yourself, you tried moving your legs. They both moved, but you could see multiple bandages wrapped around them. At least they weren't broken. A sharp pain came from your head, and you grimaced, bringing your right hand to it. You felt more bandage, but just let it be. You remembered feeling a pain in your side after the crash, but you didn't feel anything now. Was it numb? Maybe. Your torso was also covered in bandage. Damn.

It seems as if the only thing you broke was your left arm, you had a head injury of some sort, an injury on your side, and probably gashes on your legs and right arm. Could be worse, you thought.

Weakly waving at the nurse, you then pointed at the cup of water, not being able to hold your arm up for too long. She brought it to you and you tried to hold it. She caught on, so she held a hand underneath the cup to see if you could. After a while, you could somewhat keep hold of it, so you steadily brought it to your lips, and took a few sips. She took it and put it back on the table.

"I'm Emily, by the way," she smiled. "I'll be helping you for the next few weeks through your recovery."

"Nice t-to meet you," you spoke, a little bit better than the last time. "Could I make a phone call or something? There's a f-few people I would like to see," you told her, coughing a bit.

"There's already a couple of visitors waiting outside, tell me who to send in. For now, I'm afraid it's one visitor at a time," Emily informed.

"Umm, are my parents here?" You ask, they're probably worried absolutely sick.

"Yes, and I'll send both in at the same time because they're your parents," she smiled, and quickly jogged out of the hospital room.

Seconds later, my mom and dad came in, looking exhausted, but automatically brightened up when they saw me. I mustered up somewhat of a smile for them.

"Oh my goodness, sweetie, we were so worried!" Your mom gushed, her motherly instinct kicking in.

"You were out for a while, honey. But we're so glad you're okay," your dad said, kissing you very gently on the forehead.

----------

After a while with your parents, you thought of one more thing.

"Emily?"

"Yes? Do you need something?" She chirped.

"There's one more person that I'd like to see," you told her. "Is my boyfriend, Calum, here?"

"He is, I'll be back in a few seconds, (Y/N)." She said, and left the room, leaving you with the last memories you had of Calum.
