I was the first to awaken. The dawn light was just coming out and I looked at my comrads. A familier feeling sparked inside me when my gaze traveled to Shay. I shook my head and then looked at Shirley. She was quiet and never seemed to try and to start trouble. When ever Shay had shapped at her she didn't return his hostility. I have pretty amazing friends. I thought. Shirley began to stir from her makeshift nest and she lifted her head. She smiled and stood up, walking over to me.

"I see your watching him." The statment startled her. "I don't blame you, he's an amazing wolf.

"W-what are you implying?" I stammered. Was she saying that I loved Shay? That wasn't gonna happen anytime soon. He was her enemy, but then, what was that feeling that I felt when I looked at him. Shirley giggled

"It's so obvious, you like him" She smiled at me. "I'm suprised that he hasn't noticed your affection for him yet." My fur felt hot with embarresment and I looked at my paws. "It's nothing to be ashamed of..." She said looking at me intently now. "In fact, I loved someone once. Love is apart of life." I knew there was truth in her words but I didn't want to admit I loved my enemy.

"I have many reasons to hate him, and to not love him." I snapped and looked away. I could feel her blue gaze burning my fur, forcing me to look back at her.

"Do you really, I can tell just by the way you look at him that you love him. Yet he is completly oblivious to it." Shirley nudged my face "Like I said, it's nothing to be ashamed of." She looked at the now brightened sky. "I gave it some thought, and I think i'll keep tagging along with you guys." Her eyes suddenly flared and she worked at the grass with her paws "I think i'll settle the score with the ones who took my families lives!" I was suprised by her sudden change. The once scared Shirly was now fearless and it spooked me alittle.

"What's with the sudden change?" I asked. Before she could awnser Shay lifted his head. He blinked sleep from his eyes and stood up, his back arched in a stretch and he yawned.

"So, are we gonna go now?" He said sleepily and looked up at the now cloudy sky. "It looks as if it's gonna storm!" I looked up and for the first time I noticed the new chill in the air. Winter was on it's way and it was gonna make their journey harder. I nodded

"Lets get going."

We traveled for a few hours, stopping here and there for hunting breaks and water breaks. Me and Shay checked for scent trails of The Dark Ones. I was searching around a bush when a fresh scent bathed my tounge and I winced at the sudden stentch. The Dark Ones. I let out a bark and beckoned Shirley and Shay with my tail. They rushed over quick. We stalked the scent trail to find a patrol of 3 Dark Ones. I looked at Shirley and Shay and they nodded. Letting out a loud battle cry, we rushed at them. Taken by suprise, they all let out yelps. The battle begun. I took on the biggest one. Rushing at him, I snapped at his paws causing him to lose balance. I pounced on him and sunk my fangs into his neck. He threw me off and I hit the ground, taking down a sapling. He approched me but I stood up qucikly and rushed after him again. I leaped and raked his sides with my claws. I leaped again and snagged his ear, ripping some flewsh. The third time I leaped at him, he was ready. He flung his paw and knocked the wind from me. I didn't have time to recover as he approched me. He picked me up by my neck and flung me against a rock. I let out a loud yelp and he rushed at me. I seen a flash of white and moments later he was on the ground with a large wound on his stomach area. Looking up, I saw Shirley. Her paws were blood soaked, but the blood wasn't her own. Soon we chased the mangy Dark Ones off and we all let out a howl of triumph.

"Sunni are you okay? Shay asked. I nodded

"Yea, come on. We chased the furballs off, lets get going."
