We continued traveling. We now had a main objective and with Shirley's new found strength we were sure to make good progress. Suddenly I felt a sharp stinging pain in my side. I staggered and was about to fall when Shay supported my weight. Sighing with relief I barked "Thanks Shay, but i'm fine now" Shay shook his head
"No you're not" He then looked over to Shirley "Lets reset here for now!' he barked to her. Shirley looked back and nodded, She then pointed her tail to a sheltered spot
"Lets go over there then! It's sheltered so we shouldn't be spotted easily." Shay then began to help me limp to the spot. Once we manged to get over there he made me sit there and he inspected my fur for any wounds. He pressed his paw against my side and I winced in pain
"Ouch!!!" I shrieked. Shay instantly pulled away
"Hehe, sorry Sunni" Shirley then stood up and was about to leave when Shay barked "Where are you going?"
"To get some herbs." She turned and looked at Shay "I can treat injuries. My mother taught me how... Before she...." Shirley trailed off as I raised my tail for silence.
"No need to bring that story back." I suddenly began wheezing. Flopping on my un-injured side, I began trying to catch my breath.
"Sunni!" I heard Shay suddenly barked. He whipped his head back to Shriley "Go get something to help her!" he growled aggresivly, though there was a hint on affection and worry that I think was meant for me. Shirley nodded and rushed away. Shay then lay beside me and reseted his head on mine. "Y-you will be fine" he whispered, worry was overcoming his voice "I promise." He began lapping at my fur. My breath was starting to come back but I still had a problem breathing. I heard pawsteps and Shirley's bark announced her arrival
"I'm back!" She barked. Shirley then pushed some strange mint smelling plant to me. "Cmon, eat it, It'll help your breathing." I sensed the loving of Shay burning on my back. The amount of affection that came from his gaze made me think Does he love me too?. "The sun is setting" Shirley announced. "Lets get some rest. She should be fine tomorrow" She added to Shay. Shay nodded and pressed his muzzle to my ear
"I love you Sunni..." he whispered. My heart seemed to skip a beat and he began to rasp his tounge over my ear. The rythm soon made me fall into a deep sleep.
