Harry's POV

"Can we please ride back into town? I am starving." I complain to my dad as we ride our small pontoon boat farther into the ocean. Or "Gas Hogg" as my dad likes to call it, considering we have to fill up the gas tank everyday it seems.

"I just want to investigate this one thing and we will go back." He pushes his glasses back up the bridge of his nose and continues to write down his sonar and radar patterns. I groan and lay back on the deck of the boat and close my eyes. Ever since my mom died, my dad has been obsessed with this idea that there are things in the ocean that have not been discovered. My mom died from some freak accident while her and my dad were on a case. I don't really know what happened, I was so young then. All I know was that whatever took her, never brought her body back. With my dad being a marine biologist, he is always burying himself in his studies, hoping to find what killed his wife.

"Harry, come here. Look at this." He swats his hand repeatedly and I jog over to him.

"What's up?" I ask, peeking down at his radar. I notice the slight change in the sound waves, showing that something large is near the boat.  "Want me to lower the net?" I question him as he nods his head. I jog over to the large net and attempt to pull it over the boat without tossing myself into the water with it. I walk over to the crank that pulls up the net and wait for my dad to call for me.

"It's getting closer!" He yells excitedly and I roll my eyes. "It's probably just another shark or turtle dad."

"It seems too big to be just a shark. Pull up the net." He takes off his glasses and makes his way over to where I dropped the net and he crosses his arms. With all the strength in my body, I slowly crank the net up. And to no avail, it's just another turtle. I see my dad's head and face drop immediately as I lower the net back into the water to free the turtle.  I go over and hug him slightly.

"Let's go home dad." I whisper.

"I swear I thought this was different." His eyebrows are scrunched together and I can tell his thoughts are all jumbled together.

My dad goes upstairs right when we enter the house, leaving me alone to make dinner. I decide to cook some of the left over fish we caught a couple days ago. I bring some up to my dad and knock on the door, "Dad, do you want some of this fish?" I question while opening the door.

My dads bloodshot eyes look back at me and a slight gasp escapes my lips. "I might." He struggles to say, attempting a smile. I walk over to his work desk and set the plate down.

"Well here it is, if you decide to eat. Goodnight Dad." I nod my head at him while pulling the door closed and leaning against the frame to breathe. I hate seeing my dad like this. One day I hope that my dad finds this creature so he can finally have closure. And I can finally have my dad back.
