Imagine this: a bustling little street tucked away in the vast and contemporary Musutafu. This street, so insignificant compared to the grandeur of the entire city, lies only a few short blocks from the most iconic sight in this mass, maybe even all of Japan: U.A. High School. A breeding ground for the best and brightest heroes of tomorrow, the well-being of the future rests in their hands. Some of the greatest heroes in all of Japan went to this very same institution, including the likes of Endeavor, Best Jeanist, and even All Might himself!

So what might be on this one, tiny street so close to U.A.? Well, there's a bank on one corner, and a bodega on another. A small bagel shop and a clothing boutique are side by side, with a ice cream parlor across the street. One of the storefronts is vacant, with a "For Sale" sign sitting in a windowsill, and curtains drawn in the apartment above. And in the middle of it all, sitting between a tanning salon and a used bookstore, is a quaint and cozy diner.

The faded red awning sways with the breeze, jostling the phone number printed in a bold white font along the sides. "Natsukashii Diner" is emblazoned on the display window in large cursive writing, and some additional tiny lettering is scrawled underneath. A warm glow emanates from the place, and muffled laughter and chatter can be heard through the windows. Looking inside, scuffed cedar planks line the floor, and the walls are a inviting shade of coconut white. An abundance of posters, signs, pictures, and more cover the walls from top to bottom, leaving no spot too bare. Mahogany vinyl cushions line the booths and chairs around the diner, all set neatly next to polished red oak tables.

Someone steps out from the diner and the signs hanging inside the door rattle against the glass. A boy bounds forward with unmatched enthusiasm and catches the door, flinging it open and flying inside. He's clutching a white envelope tightly in his left hand, and stumbles up to the counter. The boy proudly slams it on the counter top and beams, startling the waitress sitting on a stool nearby. She looks up at him and her (e/c) eyes flash with recognition.

"Yosetsu?" Standing before (y/n) Shida is her lifelong friend and hero hopeful, Yosetsu Awase. The two have known each other ever since they were little and are now inseparable. He's a regular at the diner, which her family owns and operates, and lives only a short distance away. The boy plops down onto a stool and swivels to face her head on.

"This is a letter I got today," Yosetsu announces, sliding the crumpled envelope towards (y/n). She breaks eye contact with Yosetsu to stare at said letter, and carefully picks it off the counter. She turns it around in her hands a few times to examine it, noting a broken wax seal along the opening. The girl flicks the envelope open and pulls out a hastily folded piece of paper, eyes darting back up to Yosetsu momentarily with a questioning look. "It's from fucking U.A."

(y/n)'s eyes widen a bit at that statement, and she wastes no time in unfolding the letter to read it. Her eyes move across the sheet, taking it in. The boy next to her watches intently, studying her face for a reaction. A smile is still playing on his lips, and he's bobbing his foot in a excited manner.

The waitress lets out a barely audible gasp and snaps her head up to meet Yosetsu's gaze, "Wait a minute, so this means...?" She trails off with a questioning tone in her voice, but a buzzing undertone of knowing excitement is clear.

"I got in."

"You got in?"

"I fucking got in!"

(y/n) throws the paper on the counter and shoots her arms out towards Yosetsu, latching onto his shoulders. He does the same to her. She's bouncing in her seat from unbridled joy, a bright expression soaking her features. He got in! He's always wanted to be a hero, and U.A. is the creme de la creme of hero schools in Japan. While heroics isn't something (y/n) herself would ever consider pursuing, seeing her best friend get one step closer to achieving his own dream is huge, and really pumps her up.
