_________

In a world where people were born with the traits of cats and dogs, katsuki was lucky enough to be a cat.

Spry and lean, and faster reflexes. Sometimes, Katsuki almost felt bad for dogs, they had nothing but sheer size. Boohoo.

It's not like dogs had all bad traits, tho, in fact, he was dating one.

His favorite thing about being with a dog though would probably be his shitty tail. It's like, no matter what Katsuki's got to say he'll always know how Kirishima feels about it. Even if he tries to mask it through his words.

"Suki!" Eijirou says as he opens the front door. He was wearing nothing but orange shorts. His bushy black tail wagged behind him quickly, it almost made Katsuki want to pounce and catch it.

"Hey, could you get the rest of the groceries?" Katsuki said as he gently pushed his way past.

Eijirou nodded and left. He brought everything inside and locked the door behind him.

"How was your day off today?" Katsuki
asked.

Because they're heroes they technically don't have "a day off" per se. It's was just a day that they get to stay home and not do any paperwork.

Kirishima's tail waved quickly behind him. "Great! I didn't do much but clean though." He sat the groceries down on the kitchen floor and began to help Katsuki put up the food. "How was your day suki?"

"Nothing much happened, so good," he said.

Katsuki was very much understanding of his own tail too as it laid relaxed by his legs. He was sure kirishima could read him well too, but he doubted it was as easy as seeing a huge bush of hair move quickly or noticing two perked up interested ears at the top of his head.

"That's good," Kirishima said. His tail slowed down and only slowly swished behind him now, but his ears remained up and attentive.

"Did you end up buying the steak I texted you about?" He asked.

Katsuki paused. He knew he forgot something. He could feel his own lifted ears fall with the revelation. "Sorry. I forgot."

Kirishima's tail stopped. It made Katsuki droop more.

"It's okay! I just wanted to know." Eijirou said with complete optimism.

Katsuki was almost one hundred percent sure that kirishima was telling the truth, and that he really didn't mind all that much. But looking at him now with his unintentional upset puppy dog eyes made Katsuki feel like a huge piece of shit.

"No, it's not, I'll be back." Katsuki walked to the door and slipped his shoes back on. Kirishima followed him.

"No really okay, it can wait till you go back next week."

Katsuki shook his head."Shut up. I'll be back."  He took his jacket from the hook and pulled his keys from the inside his pocket and left.

Kirishima frowned at the shut door.

Katsuki sighed and opened it.
"I love you." He shut it again.

Katsuki sat in his car and strapped on his seat belt, when he looked up he could almost barley see a black bushy tail sway happily through the window he pulled out of the driveway and smiled.

-

Eijirou never really cared, nor did he pay attention to everyone's cat or dog-like features.

It wasn't like he ignored them, but he never really felt a reason to know so much about them. Unless he was taking a biology test, that is.

But it was once he met katsuki he got to really notice the small things. He was sure that if he didn't learn about what Katsuki was really trying to say through his ears and tail, he wouldn't have been able to get so emotionally close to him.

Cats weren't easy to read... Like at all. Even after 10 years of knowing Katsuki and 3 of dating him, there were still things his tail and ears would do that shocked him. Like when his ears would just flap.

Like not fully open or close, they would just flap.

Kirishima was pretty sure Katsuki didn't even know he was doing it. because every time he'd ask about it Katsuki would get really frustrated. He would ask another cat, but he's never seen anything like it before.

But he leaves it be because it's cute.

Other times, Eijirou was able to escape an earful because of the way he'd notice his body language. Like the day when he walked into the kitchen to see a very angry cat staring into the freezer.

"Eijirou, where's the ice cream?"

If Eijirou could only hear Katsuki he would have answered right away. But because he can see the way the hair on his tail stood and his ears pointed down he thought about his answer carefully.

"It was in the freezer for about two weeks so I figured I'd just eat it," Eijirou said in the doorway. He could feel his tail tucked between his legs.

Katsukis tail flicked around angrily.

"And why the fuck would you do that?"

Eijirou shrugged.

His tail flicked quicker. Eijirou took a step back. This isn't something he wasn't used to. Now that Katsukis older and a bit calmer he didn't often have as much "temper tantrums" as Eijirou used to call them. But sometimes, on a bad day, small things would still urke him.

"How about I take you to get some ice cream?" He moved toward the blond cautiously and awkwardly hugged him from the side. "I'm sorry I ate your ice cream babe. I didn't know you'd want it like, a month later."

Katsukis tail stopped flicking and he sighed. "It's ok just let go of me and take me to replace the ice cream you unlawfully stole."

"Awe are you purring? That's so cute!"

Katsuki scowled "get the fuck off of me… and stop, the wind from your stupid tail is making me cold."

"Awe but you're just so tiny! I can't control it!"

Katsuki hissed so he let go.

"Ice cream. Now." He said.

Eijirou followed excitedly.
