Katsuki woke up at four o'clock in the morning by sheer determination. The night was pitch dark and quiet. Eerie.
Eijirou wasn't a light sleeper, but he wasn't a super heavy one either. So Katsuki had to keep his footsteps quiet.
Eijirou was the reason why he had to sneak out in the first place.
He told him he wouldn't leave. But he had to.
Earlier that week the two had been offered to be assigned to a mission that made Eijirous stomach turn. They were to infiltrate the new "league of villains" base and rescue hostages.
The league had changed a lot since Katsukis first encounter. They had newer villains and stronger quirks, but most stayed the same. In specifics the overall hatred of the hero "ground zero."
The absolute hate seemed to pass from the first generation of the league to the next. Katsuki would always find himself the center of an attack if one were to happen during his patrol. So kirishima said he wasn't going to risk it. he declined on behalf of both of them.
When Katsuki found out they had a full-blown argument over it. One that led even the neighbors to feel sympathetic.
Eijirou told him that it was stupidly reckless, that there were not only better-suited quirks in the agency but people who were lower risk as well.
Kitsuki knew he was right.
He wasn't sure if it was his pride, his determination, the hostages, or just pure pettiness that was why he was putting on his hero costume now. But whatever it was drove him to disobey.
He left the house in a hurry but made sure the door locked behind him.
Katsuki ran swiftly through alleyways to his destination. The route was carefully mapped out.
Another disadvantage Katsuki had was the lack of assistance. If he were working with the agency he would have an earpiece helping him through every step. But if Katsuki had worked through the agency, kirishima would have known about his plan immediately. So he, in reality, has no legal right to be doing this in the first place.
When he arrived at the remote bunker Katsuki managed to slip his way in through a shattered window. He suffered long bleeding cuts that pored from his thighs.
locate hostages, get them the fuck out, leave
Katsuki hadn't thought much about what he would do from inside the bunker but now that he was there he began his mission.
The area was dimly lit and had an ominous orange hue to it. Inside smelled heavy of gasoline, for some reason. In the room he was in there were stacks upon stacks of boxes, he could only assume they were in some sort of abandoned warehouse of some sort.
When he passed the threshold of a nearby doorway he heard boisterous voices, they were laughing.
"I told you that wouldn't have killed em'! Now look at him!!" a raspy voice called. The group laughed.
Katsuki couldn't see what was going on but the noises made his legs weak.
He could hear defining gurgling noises of what sounded like a man struggling. And a woman or perhaps a child crying in fear. A gunshot sounded and the gurgling stopped.
