Chapter Six

Darkness. That pretty much summarizes the world I'm in now. Miles and miles of black nothingness stretching out as far as the eye can see.

There's nothing in this world, except for the suffocating blackness that's everywhere. It's almost as if all the black in the world has been sucked here, and is now like an elephant, crushing me under its size and power. The lair of darkness.

I want to scream, to yell, to cry for help, but nothing comes out. Even if I managed to get out a cry for help, no one would hear it. Nobody else was in the hellish world.

I run, and run, but I succeed in nothing but tiring myself. There is no light. No way out of this place.

A wave of questions hit me. Are there others like me?

How did I get here?

Where am I?

Why am I here?

Who am I?

The dean sat on the helicopter, looking sadly at the pale Audrey shadow on the floor of the helicopter. He had started this mess. He had pulled this kids into these. Now he had to fix this. There was no other option.

"I'm going to do something," he said to the group of eight assembled in front of him. "Mr. Ramburt, please take over the school while I'm gone. Take care of the kids."

"What are you going to do?" Christoph asked.

"What I need to do," he said.

------------------------------

Who am I? The question revolves around my head. Did someone remove my memory before I was locked in here?

I stop running since it seems useless. The nothingness just scrolls on forever.

I try to recover my memory. I know it's futile, but it gives me something to pass the time. If I'm going to spend the rest of my life in here, I'm going to need to find extreme ways to kill time.

I start with the basics. What am I? Yes, that's easy. Human being, cleverest animal on Earth, four limbs, breathes with lungs. Walks on two feet.

What gender? Boy or girl? That's a bit hard. I have the faint memory that I'm a girl. Yes. A girl. Of course. It's quite obvious once I think about it.

What is my name? I rack my brains  searching for an answer. I remember it starts with an A. Or is it a O? Yes. I'm pretty sure it is an A.

So what's my name? Au... Au... Au...

Audrey. A quiet voice in my head says. Audrey.

He glided through the trees, the rocks, heading towards the cave on the top of the mountain. He was fast, since he was in his shadow. This was the easy part. The hard part was still waiting, lurking in the cave.

He finally reached the barren top of the mountain. There was no life here. The lush trees and grass abruptly stopped when they reached the summit, the chirping of birds and scuffling of tiny animals in the undergrowth disappeared suddenly, as if the animals knew too that there was something in that cave that was not to be messed with.
