May do another ranking soon. Also I'll unmute poor Ally.

Alan Walker Faded, The Spectre and Alone are noice. (although me still like TheFatRat better lol)

I've also decided that I need to make stuff more detailed. Chapters are pretty short right now, and the book overall is too fast-paced.

The first part of this chapter was pretty hard too. By the time I'm writing this, I still haven't decided what Audrey should do and what should come next.

Anyway, enjoy!

------------------------------

It's as if my mind has snapped, breaking into 2 pieces that threaten to shatter into millions of tiny shards at any moment. The impossible choice is making my head hurt. Should I tell the others and risk not being able to save Jake? Or go on my own, which is the equivalent of giving myself up?

The dilemma is also accompanied by a sense of dread. The Emergent can come and go whenever they want, just like that? First they take Jake, then they place a note in my room? What's next? Them assisnating somebody?

I decide to go to Ally for help in the end. I trust him the most.

It's too late for that now; way after curfew. I can't exactly sneak out of my room and barge into his.

I guess I'll wait until the next morning.

I try to sleep. But I can't. Every time I close my eyes, the words reappear. Come to the police department of Aldine tomorrow night, or else.

Or else. I shudder at the thought of it. Or else they torture Jake? Or else they capture somebody else next? Who knows what could happen. The Emergent has shown they're already capable of sneaking into the school campus multiple times with ease.

I stop thinking, trying to slip away from this horrible world. And I actually succeed this time.

But my dreams are plagued by the echoes of the Emergent's threats, Colin flying in and out, Jake sitting in a dark room, even David making an appearance. Voices laughing at me, jeering...

I wake up in a cold sweat as the bright rays of the sun stop the bullet zooming towards Jake abruptly.

I breathe deeply. Calm yourself down, Audrey. It's just a dream.

But that dream would become true if I didn't do anything. Need to go consult Ally for advice.

I get dressed quickly, down a cup of water and walk down the corridor towards Ally's room. With the Emergent wreaking chaos, breakfast and all other stuff has been cancelled. We get our own food from the kitchen. Most of the training is now Gift training.

I knock on the door.

"Who's that?" Ally's voice comes out from inside.

"It's me," I say. "Audrey."

The door opens and Ally appears. "What brings you to my humble place, eh? Let me guess. Boyfriend problems."

"What? No, of course not," I quickly say, my face turning beet red.

"Sure," he says, a smirk on his face. "Definitely not. Most definitely. Now come in, come in. If it's not boyfriend problems, then what is it?"

I come into his room. It's surprisingly simple. His wall is a grayish white and there's no posters. Although his desktop is displaying the photo of a comedian, there's not much in the room that really screams ALLY!
