SUMMARY : Ever since she was a girl and she unexpectedly and tragically lost her father, Audrey Chappell has only ever wanted to help people. To heal the sick and save the dying, to give people more time with the ones they love, something that she had not been given. So when the world stirred with whispers of a war, she jumped at the opportunity to enlist as a nurse, hoping to make a change and save as many lives as she could.
Part of her job was to make sure that the men enlisting were physically well enough to fight for their country. Day by day, she was visited by soldiers who shot her charming smiles and begged for her to give them the all clear so they could fight, but none ever captured her attention so much as Stefan Salvatore had. Something about him had stolen her heart that day. Audrey would never forget the way he smiled at her and spoke her name, and it just so happened that her feelings were mutual, for the very next day she was unexpectedly visited by none other than Stefan Salvatore himself, who claimed he wanted to thank her for helping his enlisting go smoothly.
And just like that, the rest was history.
From dates at the movies, visits to the park and romantic dinners, their affections had blossomed into something so much more. But soon, Stefan would depart for war, and much to his dismay, she had been assigned to follow him into the warzone, for the field medics needed more helping hands and Audrey Chappell had been far too eager to accept the invitation.
The warzone was haunting, something she would never soon forget. She could smell the death around her and hear the gunfire as it rang in the distance. Lives and blood had slipped through her fingertips, and just as she feared would happen, the man she loved had been wounded. As she digs out the bullet, it turns out that he never needed her saving, after all. Somehow, in some way, the man she loved had healed himself. Confused, Audrey Chappell will not only save lives now, but she will stop at nothing to find out how and why one soldier alone managed to survive and self-heal from such a fatal wound.

ADDITIONAL NOTES : ─ This is a take on Stefan's experience when he enlisted and fought during World War II.
─ Audrey and Stefan are a fast burn.
─ They meet when Stefan enlists and has his physical test to make sure he is healthy enough to fight. After that, they begin dating and he introduces Audrey to Lexi and his brother. Because, if you have watched the show, you will remember that Damon was on good terms with Stefan at the time and had promised to enlist with him, but Damon never showed up when Stefan was waiting for him at the train.
─ Audrey is in no way a field medic. She doesn't go out in the gunfire at all and instead stays at the camp and works on the wounded soldiers brought from the battlefield back to their encampment to be healed.
─ After Stefan is fatally shot, one of the men drag him back to camp. Audrey notices him immediately and abandons another soldier, passing him off to another medic so she can go help and heal Stefan. But when she reaches his side and pulls the bullet out, she'll find his skin beginning to heal itself. Of course, she is shocked, but before she can say anything, Stefan will kiss her cheek and run back into battle. After a moment, she'll return to her work.
─ The following days, Stefan will try and make her think she is crazy by claiming he was never shot. But, eventually, he will confess what he is to her because he feels guilty for making her think she has gone crazy like her father was. (Her father had altzhiemers and killed himself.) Audrey will be scared at first until Stefan assures her that he would never hurt her.
