Elle carefully places the bag of groceries on top of the kitchen counter before heading to her room to have a quick change into her PJs.
She just got home, from an exhausted day at work and a short visit of the the grocery store near their house.
She sighs as she dumps her work clothes in the laundry basket before grabbing her phone inside her handbag, nonchalantly scrolling her feed as she descends down the stairs — heading towards their kitchen to prepare dinner.
She looks up at their wall clock, frowning as she thought about her sister, Mina.
"She should have been home by now." Her eyes darting to the window noticing how the sky changed into a dark hue — informing her that it was already nighttime.
Something within her bothered the hell out of her, so instead of getting ready for dinner, she went back in her room — grabbing her keys and a long coat as she darted to look for her sister.
She dials one of her sister's teachers. The one who she liked at least — since the lady was polite unlike some of the others.
Her key, already in the ignition but she had not yet started to drive while waiting for Mina's teacher to pick up her call.
In the end. All she got from the nice lady was that school, was already over an hour ago. And Mina already left the school.
"Shit." Elle curses as she starts to drive away from their garage.
She had to find her sister.
She's the only one she had left.
Elle was on the verge of crying but she held it in. She did not dare to let her negative mindset get the best of her as she drove faster around the neighborhood.
A flashback of Mina's sad expression from earlier this morning when she dropped her off, came into realization and Elle's grip on the wheel tightened.
Then an image of the small playground around the block, came into her mind.
It was her and Mina's sacred place. The place that held all their precious memories as a child and even as a grown up.
She speeds up and arrives there in no time.
Elle huffs as she comes out of the car, the cold air penetrating her PJs, despite her long coat, as she searches the area for her younger sister.
