Fixing a broken heart

Date

Toni did her hair in curls, sighing when she was finally done.

It was date night with Cheryl. She was super nervous.

"Mom. This is Cheryl your going out with. It's gonna be fine." Breanna said, soothing Toni's nerves a little bit.

"Your right. Your right." Toni nodded with a smile.

"Okay, So her sister agreed to watch you with the twins since Veronica isn't available." Toni said.

"Okay, Mom. Don't stay out too late." Breanna joked.

Toni chuckled, shaking her head.

"Breanna coming over?" Sophia asked excitedly.

"Mhm. Aunty Betty agreed to watch all 3 of you guys." Cheryl smiled.

"Yay! Breanna's coming!" Alex cheered.

Cheryl smiled, fixing her mascara.

"Yep. She's coming over." Cheryl smiled.

"Hey guys!" Breanna smiled as Sophia and Alexander ran to hug her.

Cheryl smiled at them before going to greet Toni.

"You look amazing, Cheryl." Toni smiled.

"So do you." Cheryl chuckled.

"Okay, you two. Get going." Betty said before holding the door open.

Toni smiled before kissing Breanna's cheek Cheryl doing the same to Alex and Sophia.

"I'll be back, okay?" Cheryl smiled.

"Okay, mommy." Alex smiled.

The duo walked out before Betty locked the door.

"So... Breanna, do you like finding Dory?" Betty asked.

"Uh, sure." Breanna smiled before the twins led her into the living room.

"This place is beautiful, Toni." Cheryl smiled.

Toni smiled, "Yeah. I bring Breanna here whenever she gets a good mark in school."

"That nice. So tell me about yourself." Cheryl smiled.

Toni cleared her throat before speaking, "Well, as you know it's just me and Breanna. My husband died from cancer almost two years ago. So it's just been us."

The redhead frowned, feeling bad for the Burnette. She remembers Toni telling her that her husband died.

"Oh no! I'm so sorry." Cheryl said, grabbing Toni's hand.

"It's okay. We're coping. Breanna talks about it sometimes. She's still trying to accept that he's not here." Toni nodded.

"Oh well, I also lost my wife. Well, she's not dead but we divorce a while ago." Cheryl sighed.

"Really? How come?" Toni asked, "If your comfortable speaking about it." The Burnette added.

Even though they knew each other for about 4 months, they never really opened up about these things.

"She cheated on me. And then she wasn't treating Alex and Sophia correctly so I divorced her." Cheryl nodded.

"Wow. I guess we both went through heartbreak."Toni said with a small smile.

"Yep. I guess." Cheryl chuckled.

"Ya know... I never believed in second chances at love. I just gave her after my ex-wife." Cheryl said, digging into her meatloaf.

"Really? I do. I believe you can love more than once." Toni nodded.

Cheryl looked up, a sparkle in her eyes. "You do?" She asked.

"Mhm. Life is full of surprises, and if those surprises are great and I have someone to love I think it's a good life." Toni smiled making Cheryl's heart flutter.

Cheryl nodded with a small smile as she and Toni went back to eating their food.

Cheryl giggled as she and Toni approached Cheryl's door.

They stood in front of it as Cheryl tried to find her keys.

Cheryl then looks up at Toni who was staring at her.

"Is there something on my face?" Cheryl asked, embarrassed.

"Yeah. It's right there..." Toni whispered before leaning in to kiss Cheryl.

Cheryl immediately kissed back as Toni wrapped her arms around Cheryl's waist.

They heard giggles as the door opened revealing their children.

Breanna's eyes widened as she covered the twins eyes.

"Mom!" She whispered, making Toni pull away.

Cheryl turned around, chuckling softly.

"Oh, Sorry guys. We didn't see you there." Cheryl smiled, picking up Sophia.

"Okay, guys. Go get ready for bed. Shoo." Betty said making Alex run upstairs as Cheryl let her daughter down.

Betty smiled at the 3 girls before going into the kitchen.

"I'll wait in the car mom." Breanna smiled before waving at Cheryl.

"So... I enjoyed tonight." Toni smirked.

"Yep. I had a ball. That's the first time I had fun in the longest time. So thank you." Cheryl giggled.

"My pleasure. So, I was wondering if you'd like to go to an amusement park with me and Breanna. We go every year." Toni asked.

Cheryl pretends to think.

"Come on, please..." Toni faked pouted.

"Okay. Okay fine. It'll be good to get the twins out for the day." Cheryl smiled.

"Cool..." Toni nodded. Cheryl pecks her lips, smiling as she pulled away.

"See you then." Cheryl nodded.

"Oh, I will." Toni smirked before leaving.
