Damnatio Kira. A handsome man, inexplicably related to an ugly fuckwit of a ruler, with gorgeous eyes, yet with a seemingly cold and callous heart. Not one for affection of any kind, or at least, that was the image he projected with pride.

You thought it a pity that he didn't share his emotions more often.

Often dealing with him when handling criminals, there was the occasional time when you spotted him show something other than disinterest or disgust. Even times when you were sure you saw him smile. Those rare occasions were ones which drew you to him, but you couldn't deny that even when he wasn't smiling he appealed to your eyes. And to your very - ahem - creative (dirty) mind... not that there was any chance in hell you were about to admit that to him. Not yet, anyway.

"Well, aren't you going to thank me for providing you with the information?" Damnatio, unlike Julius, wasn't the type to hand out gold stars or even pats on the back and so you doubted that he would show his gratitude to anyone. Even if you had given him the intelligence necessary to convince everyone that a certain scummy individual deserved to rot behind bars for a good portion of his life.

"What information?" the male feigned ignorance as he walked out the door. Glancing around, you wondered if it were the crowds, or just his screwed up personality that made him such an ungrateful prat. You weren't really sure why you even bothered seeking his approval, even after a year of working together without anything changing between you.

"You know what I mean, Damnatio. A 'thank you, Y/N, for your help' would be quite lovely," you grinned, not about to be discouraged.

The man rolled his eyes. "It isn't as though I couldn't have found it out myself..."

"Yes, but I did it faster. But, if you aren't about to speak of your gratitude, perhaps you could show me it instead...?"

"Not a chance..."

"Come on! Not even a dinner? I know the perfect place."

"No."

"Alright, then at least smile for me."

He frowned. "Why?" Narrowing your eyes at you, he looked you over. Turning red, you thought for a moment that perhaps he was checking you out, until his eyes settled on yours and you snapped out of those foolish thoughts. Honestly, you weren't sure why you got your hopes up. There wasn't a hint of evidence that pointed towards the idea of him regarding you as "attractive." No, he was merely confused.

Merely?

Confused?

Flashing him a flirtatious smile, you decided to change things around a bit. Maybe you could change his mind about you. "I'm sure you'd look quite handsome if you smiled for once," you teased him.

He didn't respond immediately, suggesting that maybe he considered your words. But even if he had, he made no attempt to lift the corners of his lips upwards into anything vaguely resembling a smile. "Unless my smiling wins over the opinions of the people of Clover thus making my job easier, I have no idea why I should humour your request."
