As head counselor, on certain days I was on meal prep. Today was one of those days. The Apollo cabin was on meal and cleanup today. We had assigned campers coming with me to do meal, and campers to go with Will for cleanup. Doing meal prep was honestly very controversial. If you made it fun, it could possibly be the funnest part of your day. Cleanup, not so much. If you liked cleaning up the dining pavilion where a hundred demigods ate everyday, then that is the job for you.

I decided that I would get up 10 minutes earlier than the rest of the campers so that I could get dressed in peace.

"Hey big brother," I said to Will, while brushing my hair. "Startin' of the day with cleaning. Super fun." Will said sarcastically.

We both had our iconic CHB bright orange shirts. My shirt was tie-dyed and knotted at the bottom. If I was going to have to wear this shirt all the time, I was gonna do it my way. "Time to get everyone up" I groaned.

Our way of waking everyone up was.... drum roll please.... music. We played the same song everyday- "The Campfire Song". It was an original, and a camp favorite.

Everyone in the cabin loved the mornings because we all loved to sing and dance. Once Will started playing the song, I started singing and dancing around the beds. The campers hated to be woken up like this, but once everyone was awake, it was so fun.

"Alrighty y'all, we're on meal and clean up this morning!" There was a chorus of groans and sighs. "The quicker you're up, the quicker it's done." Will said.

Once everyone was dressed and ready, we headed over to the dining pavilion. We passed Chiron and a few other campers walking around. It was only 8:00 am which is super early for camp.

"Campers who are cooking, come with me," I yelled over the talking. "Hey girls, how'd you sleep?" I asked the campers. Only girls had volunteered to cook. "Good, other than the occasional screaming from the Athena cabin and the music from Hermes. There must've been some spiders in the Athena cabin." My younger "sister" Ellie said. "I'll bet you my dessert that it was the Stoll's." Everyone agreed, laughing.

We had to make bacon, eggs, bagels, and fruit salad. Most of it was already done because of the nymphs. All we had to do was cut the bagels and the fruit.

All of the boys volunteered to do cleanup, which was honestly not a very good idea. We heard a knock on the door. "I'll get it," one of the girls yelled. "AHHHH." All the boys came running into the kitchen. I knew what they were doing. They had officially declared a food fight.

With all the yelling, Chiron, Mr. D, and a few other head counselors came running in. "What in the world is happening here?" Katie Gardener yelled. "Uhhhh nothing?" I said, smiling.

We ended up getting in trouble for the mess and screaming. Our punishment was no dessert for two days. In camp, getting no dessert was probably the worst punishment you could get.

After breakfast, my cabin had archery, our favorite. I normally taught archery but today I decided to take a break and just practice with the rest of my cabin.

While everyone left for their different activities, I had to stay behind and teach archery. Most of the time I just talked with my friends who were in the period. At this point, everyone pretty much knew archery. To try and make it fun, I would make up games to interest the campers. My favorite was to have them imagine that the target had Mr. D's head on it. That really got them going.

Today was lunch on "Freeday- Friday" as everyone called it. At lunch on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, you could sit wherever you wanted. Normally we would have to sit with our cabins. Lunch was also an hour long today. Mostly everyone would finish after 20 minutes. My friends and I would put our bathing suits on and swim around in the lake. I loved these days when I could sit with my friends.

"So Connor, Travis, how was your sleep last night?" I asked suspiciously. "What do you mean?" "Yeah?" They both had very good lying skills. "So you didn't put the spiders in Athena cabin?" Annabeth asked, glaring at them. Annabeth was TERRIFIED of spiders. The Stoll brothers were TERRIFIED of Annabeth. "No we didn't put the spiders in your cabin. But we did put a spider on your plate." Connor said, smirking. "You boys better run before I get you" Annabeth screamed, chasing them down the hill. We were all hysterical laughing.

"So Katie," I said turning to her, "how's Travis?" Her face practically turned purple. "Yeah Katie how is he?" Silena asked. Sure, Silena wasn't a typical Aphrodite kid, but she did still love pairing up relationships. "I, uhhhh, don't know what you're talking about." Katie responded, trying to contain her embarrassment. "Oh yeah I actually really need to use the bathroom so I'll be right back." Katie said quickly. "Mmm I bet that's exactly what she was doing." I said laughing.

After lunch I went back to archery. Luckily I only had one more period before I could leave. Today was the annual bead making day. At the end of the summer, a bead was made for each camper that showed an important event during the session. It was pretty quiet this summer.

After lots of deciding, the camp bead this summer was a crown. This summer they decided to have the first ever Camp Half Blood prom. It was a very eventful day to say the least. Aphrodite kids went all out. Everyone else went with friends, unless they had a boyfriend or girlfriend.

For dinner we had a cookout followed by a bonfire. It was one of the last nights of the summer session. The bonfires are one of my favorite parts about camp. We sing all of these made up songs like "The Campfire Song" (starring different campers), "Put You in Your Place" (starring Annabeth and Clarisse), "Another Terrible Day" (where we impersonate Mr. D), "Last Day of Summer" (which we always sing at the last bonfire), "Killer Quest", and a bunch of other songs. Normally, the Apollo cabin runs the songs.

Tonight we were out super late because of the bonfire and s'mores. Everyone was crying that they had to say goodbye to their friends, campers, and siblings. It was a bittersweet night.
