It was all so new. The atmosphere, the emotions, the scenery. Everything. Theo was struggling to take everything in, it all happened so suddenly. He was finally settling in with the Barbour family when his father and his 'new' girlfriend suddenly arrived to sweep him away. Now in Vegas (a rather remote part that is) he was now changing and getting ready for his first day at public school.

"You never know, you might find some really quirky people out there." Andy had said before watching Theo pack his suitcase to leave.

"Hmm." Theo simply hummed along, he was worried that if he opened his mouth his emotions would start to pour out and he really didn't want Andy to be the one to deal with that.

"I mean, Vegas is interesting and the weather is nice." He carried on, passing Theo some of his books to take with him. "I'll email you so you don't die of boredom or get hooked on gambling."

"My hero." Theo replied sarcastically, watching Andy stick his middle finger out at him.

"Don't be a dunce." He snapped back, laughing. "I'll miss you."

"Me too."

Now in his room, which was rather basic with a bed a wardrobe and a desk, he began packing his backpack. His dad was kind enough to go out and buy a few school supplies for him, even though Xandra was against it.

"He already has school things." She had snapped.

"Well, i want to treat the kiddo alright." He simply replied, before driving off to find some pencils and pens.

Walking out of his room he placed his headphones in his ears and began playing Beethoven to remind him of Pippa. God how he missed her and Hobie. Locking the front door behind him with Popper in the house barking. The bus soon arrived at the end of the street and to no surprise all of the back seats were full, so Theo grabbed the first one he set his eyes on at the front and spent the rest of his way to school solo.

It was only in English when he slightly interacted with someone.

"Twat." A boy mumbled from behind him, turning to see who made the comment Theo was slightly taken back by what he saw. The boy was sporting a rather gloomy and dark persona. His hair was all over the place and hung in front of his eyes like a mop, it was jet black matching the rest of his outfit. Black ripped jeans with a black t-shirt and an oversized blazer. Staring too long Theo looked up at the boys eyes and was greeted with a smile from the boy, smiling back Theo felt a little better and not so alone.

"Ha, Harry Potter!" The boy laughed, approaching Theo on the bus. He was unable to pin point his accent but there was definitely something to it.

"Fuck you!" He snapped back, not really knowing how to approach this mysterious character. Without hesitation he fell onto the seat next to Theo and brushed the hair from his eyes.

"I'm Boris." He smiled, taking his hand out for the boy to shake.

"Theo."

"You new here yes?" He smiled, rolling his sleeves up and pulling out a cigarette from his blazer pocket.

"Uh, yeah i'm from New York." Theo replied watching the boy offer him a cigarette. "No thanks."

"Nice, big place New York." Boris replied, now standing up along with Theo. "You live down here too eh?"

"Yeah, just down the street."

"Nice, want to come to mine for a bit? I got beer, bread and sugar."

"Uh, sure..." Theo smiled. Weird combination...He pondered.

As the two wondered off to Boris's house under the shade of his umbrella, the boy began listing off all the places he has travelled fascinating Theo. "Ukraine originally, but ey now i'm here. Not for long i doubt, we always travel. Fucking exhausting." He breathed out, still smoking his cigarette. "So, you here with your father or mother?"

"Father, my mum died." Theo sighed, as the two walked around the back of Boris's house to meet an empty swimming pool outside.

"Shame, so did mine." Boris smiled, taking the top off the two bottles of beer he brought out. "So, you friends with anyone at school?"

"No, you're the first person ive spoken too." Theo uttered nervously, feeling rather embarrassed.

"Maybe it is fate ey?" Boris winked. "I don't know many here either, no point i'll be gone soon."

"But you spoke to me." Theo questioned, sipping his beer.

"Yeah, but you look like Harry Potter so it made me laugh." Boris chuckled, downing half of his beer. "What do you do for fun potter?"

"I don't look like Harry Potter so you can stop that shit." Theo groaned causing Boris to laugh more. "Nothing, just read and listen to music i guess."

"Really? You don't drink much or smoke or get high?" Boris sat up looking rather startled.

"No." Theo simply responded.

"You want to tonight? My dad wont be home." Boris smirked, waving his beer in the air.

"Fuck it." Theo smiled, texting his dad that he was staying at a friends. He knew he wouldn't care much as him and Xandra often didn't come home at night, but he knew he'd be better off letting him know.

DAD: Alright Kiddo, have fun.

"Lets get fucked." Boris laughed, as the two clinked their bottles together.
