I walk with my younger sister, Nessa, to the mailbox at the end of our street. I yank our boxador's leash, giving him the hint to stop so we could check the mail. Nessa slips the key into the slot and pulls out the mail, mostly consisting of junk. "Hey, this one's for you!" I hear her say handing me a letter with my name on it. I look down at it surprised before feeling our dog's refusal to pass the neighbor's bush.
"Dobbs, come on, we're almost home!" I say frustrated while pulling the strong dog with me. Eventually, we reached the house and I took the leash and harness of the dog while pushing my glasses up further on my face. He runs inside and I heed to my room, reaching for my envelope opener. I open the letter and see that I had been given a scholarship for a middle school in Japan.
It said that I would be living with the Oikawa's, and I felt my heart jump. Isn't that the name of the setter from Aoba- I start to think but before the words could be completely formed they disappeared from my mind, as well as many memories. I stared at the paper for a moment longer before giving up the task completely.
My mom walks past and sees me holding the letter, so she asks about it in the sweetest voice ever. "It's a notice of a scholarship for a middle school in Japan. It must be pretty elite for them to send out scholarships," I say handing her the letter. I see her brown eyes skim over the paper before the panic settles in.
"Well, if you're going to this school than we have to leave now," She says and she then asks me the crucial question. "Do you want to go to this school?" I nodded replying with a yes and then being told to get in the truck, an order I hastily obey.
We arrive at the airport and my mom walks up to a desk of sorts. "Natalie Anderson" is all that comes out of her mouth before I'm handed a passport, ticket, and a wallet.
"Enjoy your flight, Anderson," She tells me with a smile and I nod before heading to the gate and saying my farewells to my family.
I run to the place indicated on the ticket only to be stopped by armed security. I then hear a voice start to scold them in another language. "Chotto ochitsuite! Kōgeki sa reru koto wanaideshou. Watashi wa atarashī imōto ga arawareru no o Koko de matteimasu." I hear a boy saying and I recognize it as Japanese from the word "Watashi". The boy looks at me who was then helping me up.
"You wouldn't happen to be Anderson Natalie now would you?" He asks and I smile up at the boy standing a few inches taller than me.
"Yes, I am you wouldn't happen to be Oikawa would you?" I said recalling the name from the paper.
"I am, Imōto, and please, call me Aniki," He tells me with a smile before the guards make way. "Come on Imōto! The plane's this way!" Aniki says before grabbing my hand pulling me to a private jet.
Once we get on the luxury plane he looks at me says, "How much Japanese do you know?"
"I know a little, but not much" I admit and he nods before teaching me volleyball terms in Japanese for the remainder of the flight.
"Imōto!!! Wake up!!!" I hear Aniki's voice shout from my phone. I smile as my phone repeats the noise over again and I stop my alarm. I remembered my dream- I guess it's because it's a memory. I think with a shrug before walking into the bathroom with my new uniform.
----------Flashback----------
"But Imōto!!!! This uniform is so cute on you!!! Don't you think Iwaizumi?!" Aniki said and I looked over at Nīsan who confirmed what Aniki was saying.
"You have nothing to worry about Nat-chan, you'll be fine," Nīsan tells me while ruffling my long, dirty blonde hair.
