Kei leaned over while I had averted my eyes and was staring intently at my hands that were fidgeting in my lap. "Look at me," I heard Kei say and I looked over to see the bespectacled beanstalk's face centimeters away from mine. I blushed at how close we were and lightly pushed at his shoulders while averting my eyes.
"Too close!" I say and I saw something leave his eyes. He sat back in his seat and smirked at me, doing his best to cover the slight blush on his cheeks.
"I wanted to see your reaction," He told me and despite what Kei thought, he broke my heart when he said those words to me.
"Why did I not see that coming?" I ask and before Kei could answer the sound of my ringtone fills the air. I pull out my phone and see that it's my mom so I quickly answer it. "Hi, mom! What is it?" I ask and she tells me to put her on speaker.
"My mom wants me to put her on speaker," I tell them, and Kei nods while Akiteru smiles and tells me to go for it.
"Oh, you're in the car good! Anyway, I was able to get out of the convention early so Natalie can come home and stay with me! So, how did the appointment go?" She asks and Akiteru answers for me, which I am thankful for because I don't trust my voice not to do something stupid like break on me while I'm talking.
"Dr. Hinata was able to get her on a trail. It was successful so she's out of the wheelchair but she can't jump at almost all costs. Anything worse than that and her ankle is toast, needless to say, she won't be playing volleyball anytime soon." He says and I silently thank him from the back seat.
"That's great news! Oh, is that you?!" I hear my mom say as we arrive at our house after 10 minutes of useless chatter.
"Yeah, mom, we're here! See you in a sec!" I say before hanging up and turning to the two guys. I lean over and kiss Akiteru on the cheek before saying, "Goodbye Oniichan, thanks for everything!" I say and I sit back, tempted to kiss Kei too but too nervous to try.
I settle for a hug and tackle him. "Thank you for everything Kei! Bye! Have a nice night both of you!" I say and exit the car before either of them can see my embarrassment.
I enter the house and sleep it all off until my alarm woke me up the next morning. "Training camp's today isn't it?" I ask myself and climb out of my sanctuary of a bed and into the shower to get ready for school.
I groan as I remember what happened yesterday but then I get over it quickly. At least it's not half as bad as when I was being yelled at every morning. I think optimistically and I head downstairs where the smell of bacon reaches my nose. I look over and there's my mom pulling a breakfast casserole out of the oven. "Yay! My favorite!" I say excitedly as my mom hands me a plate of the deliciousness before me. I start to dig in and that was when I find out why she made me my favorite breakfast.
"Natalie dear? You see I made you this as an apology for my timing of that call yesterday. Tsukishma told me that you were having an important conversation beforehand and that you wouldn't feel very well so I made you this," I hear her tell me and when the last sentence left her lips I knew it was Akiteru who told her because Kei was far too dense to notice he had upset me.
"It's not your fault, trust me on that! It's stupid Kei's but that's beside the point! Thanks for the breakfast though!" I say happily and put the now empty dish in the sink. I brush my teeth before my mom kissed me on the forehead and said goodbye. I open my door and standing there, about to knock is another mother...Suga.
"Morning Suga!" I say cheerfully as I step out the door and I look at him.
"Morning Nat-chan! Tsukishima texted me, said that you might need someone talk to. Are you ok?" He asks me motherly and I scrunch my eyebrows at the sound of Kei's name. Akiteru must've stolen his phone, wow he cares so much. I think happily and I let out a sigh, debating whether or not to dump my problems on him. Suga must've noticed my struggle because he answered the question for me. "Come on, tell me. I promise I won't tell anyone if you don't want me too," He says and I nod before giving in.
