Chapter Two: Memories
After my conversation with Kar we finally managed to reach my parents front porch looking up to meet his gaze. I noticed his head downcast refusing to meet my gaze. He's been like this since we left the house, avoiding my gaze, or the conversation he knows is coming. Just not right now, "you gonna be like this all night? Are you gonna make my parents think i'm dating an emotional emo teenager?". Watching as his shoulders shake back and forth with silent laughter my mouth raises into a smile. Glad I finally got a reaction from him.
I raised my hand to knock on the door. Not even managing to scrape my knuckles against the door before the door opens to my mother's annoyed face. "Honey are you and your friend just gonna stand out here all night? Or are you gonna act like you actually like your parents?". Standing dumbfounded at my mom's presence I remove my hand from hanging in the air and smile. "I mean i could always go back home" turning around as if i was true to my statement before i heard my mom's response. "No!! It's fine just get in her before you guys get sick in this weather, turning back around i respond as i step through the doorway "It's not even august mom". Walking into my parents house is like being hit in the face with your childhood, with all of the collections of beanie babies and little trolls all over the house. Moms are not really that big on collecting things but when she does it's always some type of toy. My mom is a nice lady. She's about 5'8 with her beautiful auburn shoulder length hair with some streaks of grey. Her blue eyes crinkling in the corners with years of laughter, Her small lips seemingly in a pout as if she's tasted something sour. Turning around to focus my gaze back on my mom I noticed Kar unmoving by the front door while being struck with my mother's gaze. "Mom...what are you doing?" seemingly unphased by my question my mom slowly blinks before replying. "I am trying to see whether or not this is another friend or if this is someone who I can speak with about your future kids." startled by my mom's answer I stood with my mouth agape. Watching as Kar reaches out his hand "Kozaru, but May just called me Kar, i am your daughters boyfriend. Pleased to meet you Mrs. Griffyn.". Watching as my mom squeals like what would seem to be a highschool cheerleader before grabbing his outstretched hand in a firm grip. Startled by his reply this time i take a step forward towards the two catching my moms attention as she releases his hand and turns towards me. "Dear you should have told me, I would have wanted to meet him sooner." Turning my gaze to Kar i decided to be as truthful as possible "any sooner than today and it wouldn't have been true mom, this all happened not long before we came here."
Watching my mom disappear upstairs with a sparkle of enjoyment was almost worth lying to her...almost. Turning back towards Kar I decide to voice my displeasure, "well with how many people you're telling that to you might as well make it official." Watching the mischievous glint in his strikingly red eyes almost made me feel as if i would have said yes anyways. Turning around I head upstairs towards my old room, Not surprised when it sits the same as when I left. My mom said that she would rather keep it the way it was just in case life on my own 'becomes hazardous' . Sitting down on my old bed with the same emerald blue bed set on it I peer through my eyelashes to see Kar standing in the doorway looking at me expectantly. "What do you want for an invitation?" Watching his figure as he steps into my room was equally compared to watching an attractive lead male role walking across the tv screen in nothing but a pair of boxers. Swallowing back spit in my throat I tear my gaze away just for it to return when he speaks. "So are we gonna finish our conversation from earlier? Or are you waiting for an invitation?" not being able to bite back the laugh to his response to my joke i place a hand over my mouth as if that'll keep the rest in. Removing my hand I reply, "no i just don't feel we need to finish it now, i really would like to enjoy the time with my parents before i take a long trip to submit someone into a psych ward." Deciding our conversation was over I headed back downstairs to speak to mom about us staying for dinner.
