Germany didn't know how many hours he was pinned in between the soldiers in the back seat. Most of the time they had pushed his head down and secretly he was even grateful for it. So his field of vision was limited to the dirty floor of the vehicle and the heavy boots of the soldiers. He was spared the sight of his homeland lying in ruins. Furthermore, his field of vision became increasingly restricted due to the increasing swelling on his face. His face felt heavy and numb at the same time.

Germany wished the old times back.

A time without war and without hatred.

A time when his father's flag rose high on the flagpoles, without anyone having to fear this sight.

When did it all start?

When had the madness taken possession of his father?

Why hadn't he noticed it sooner?

Why had he wanted to be a "good son" for so long?

What will happen to his home country?

What will happen to the population?

The questions circled in his head like evil spirits as he moved further and further away from his home country and was driven in a direction unknown to him.

He winced when a sudden downpour poured down on the roof of the car and it took a moment for Germany to realize that this was the sounds of thick raindrops not the sound of war.

The patter became louder and harsher.

A storm.

Somewhere in the distance a thunderclap struck the earth.

Germany flinched again. One of the soldiers tightened his grip on his neck. He was clearly on alert.

Everyday noises had lost their meaning for Germany due to the war. If a glass accidentally broke, he had immediately thought that a window was shot through by a projectile and that they were under fire. If a car door slammed loudly, he thought a grenade would have exploded somewhere. He had been tense all the time because he knew they were coming.

The loud thunderstorm became more and more torture for Germany.

But this thunderstorm also passed and after a while only the monotonous rain sound could be heard, which made him sleepy.

His eyes were on Russia's back before he finally fell asleep.

At some point the car stopped when Germany was in a light sleep. It was already dark outside and several lights were on the vehicle. They had reached a small Soviet base. But where he was exactly was not known to him. Was he still in his home country? Have they already crossed the borders?

He didn't dare to ask. Especially since he wasn't in the position to ask questions. The soldiers moved him to a small cell and did not come back until the next day. Germany's thoughts went crazy during this time.

He reproached himself and at the same time the terrible thought that they would shoot him in a dark corner the next few days did not leave him.

Why hadn't they done it right away?

Nobody spoke to him, but he heard that they were talking about him.

Germany couldn't understand it because they spoke in Russian, but the soldiers' looks were clear.
