When we had woken up the morning after that, I had to fight the urge to avoid him all day. What happened that night was so unlike
me, and I had been embarrassed that I showed him my body like that. I'd never showed anybody my body like that. Now I had to look at him again, and try to be normal.
When I turned to my side, I made eye contact with him and my heart dropped. "Good morning," He said with a smile, "I feel like you're nervous. I mean— I know you're nervous. You don't have to not be nervous."Out of all of the things that were happening in my life, this had to be the best part.
Then it hit me again, like a knife in my stomach. Twisting and turning. My mom? My dad?
"Thank you... I'm gonna use the bathroom." I moved the sheets off of me, quickly putting on one of his shirts as I heard him giggle at the sight of my butt cheeks. "...shut up."I grabbed my phone quickly walking to the bathroom and with a swift motion, closing the door behind me and locking it. Searching through my call log, I found the number my mom had called me from and pressed it, putting my phone up to my ear. Please pick up.
She did.
"Adele? Hey... I was worried you would call me back. Look, I want you to come to France with me. To live with me." My heart began to beat about 5 miles per minute. A smile grew on my face. My mother still loved me. She still wanted me. "You really mean that?" I spoke with a frog in my throat, tears were running down my cheeks. I laughed a little. "Baby... yes. Where would I be without you? You're- you're my best friend, I just didn't know how to say this to you when I last spoke to you."
"Well... mom I— You know you really scared me. All of this really scared me and... and... hurt me. I really thought you didn't want me anymore and were going to leave me with dad."
"Oh chérie no! I would never leave you with him. I just had to get my words together, and I had to get properly situated with Amelie."
I tried to connect the dots. I just wanted to know everything. I wanted to know exactly what it was that dad did to her to drive her to this point, I wanted to know who Amelie was and I wanted to know what guy is with her."Adele?"
"Yeah— Sorry I'm just.... I'm so overwhelmed. Who's Amelie? Who was that other guy over the phone?"
"Amelie is my um... my friend and Henrie is her brother. I've known them for a very long time. Listen that's beside the point. Before you make up your mind on the matter, I'm going to get you a plane ticket and I want you to come and visit me first."
But what about Timothée? She didn't even know about Timothée yet. She didn't know about the craziness that was going on my life, besides her and dad.
"I have somebody I want you to meet, mom."
"Alright... Then we can make it two tickets. I love you baby!"
"I love you too. Bye."I opened the bathroom door immediately hearing an ouch. Timothée peeked his head from the side, showing a shy grin and rubbing the top of his head. "Were you listening to everything?" I asked, walking past him to slide on some pants. He chuckled, "Maybe."
We heard a knock on the door, and a "You know your only bathroom is in here right? At least the only one with a shower."
He laughed once again, "...Right."I tied the drawstrings on my sweatpants before he opened the door, and Carter walked in with a towel draped over his shoulder and a wink at me before Timothée got a chance to turn around. "I slept like a baby last night. Well... At least for a few minutes before my sleep was interrupted with extremely loud moaning sounds—"
"Shut up, Carter. You're always saying something you know?" Timothée rolled his eyes, crossing his arms. My heart sunk into my stomach. He had heard us and that was embarrassing. Mostly because I didn't really want anybody to know, and also because of that fact that I was loud. I cringed on the inside.
"Hey... Hey. I'm sorry, it was just a joke. Congratulations though..." He smirked causing Timothée to hit him upside the head. "Go shower, loser."*
"So what's the plan for today?" I lifted a spoon of oatmeal up to my mouth, "Are we going shopping or...?"
I still had to talk to Timothée about France. Obviously he knew that I wanted him to come, but we didn't get a chance to talk before Carter knocked on the door. "Yeah I think we should... It seems like I should get a new suitcase and some clothes for a upcoming special occasion," Timothée smirked, a wink followed. He sipped his coffee.
"Oh...? Special occasion?" Carter came sitting down next to me, "To where?"
"France... Apparently," Timothée locked eyes with him as he sat next to me.
"And you're not bringing me? How rude..."We sat silently at breakfast and finished our food not making eye contact at all.
Once we arrived at the mall, Timothée had remembered to put his scarf on around his nose and mouth and Carter and I had done the same. I didn't understand how Timothée had done it for so long, it had been one of the most uncomfortable things I'd ever experienced.
"Alright... Next stop... Louis Vuitton!" Timothée chuckled as we walked through the mall in search of the store. "Ugh... You and Louis. You should marry him to be honest," Carter sneered and I followed with a chuckle. "You guys wouldn't get it."As Timothée strolled in, Carter pulled me to the side of the store swiftly. His eyes locked with mine and he spoke with a hushed and serious tone. "I need to talk to you about Timothée... I know he must have said something about me but there's a lot you need to know about him." My heart began to beat quickly and I was confused. If there were any other surprises, I couldn't handle them.
"S-Something I need to know?"
"Yes."
I breathed in, "What?"
"Timothée... He... Doesn't like you like that."My heart sunk into the pits of my stomach and I was honestly purely confused. It was so hard for me to be upset, because if this information was coming from Carter it had to have been a lie.
I carefully moved away from underneath his hovering body, looking around the store for Timothée. He had been in the back looking at suitcases.
"Why would I believe you Carter?""Just come and I'll tell you everything."
