We got to the top and this little cliff. The sun was setting slowly and Thorin waited. I watched the sun and then at Thorin.
"Come on." I said. The sun was gone and I furrowed my eyebrows.
"Well, that was our last hope." Thorin said. They started walking away and Bilbo stayed. Thorin dropped the key and I thought.
"We can't give up now." Bilbo yelled. He started pacing and mumbling and I looked at the sky. The moon shone.
"Bilbo. The moon." I said.
"The last moon of the autumn. Guys! It's the moon." He yelled. He tried looking for the key and accidentally kicked it. Thorin's foot stomped on its chain and picked it up. He went toward the door and unlocked it. He pushed it opened and I went in. Thorin smiled and hugged the walls.
"Just as I remembered." He said. I smiled.
"Just like the days of old. The stone." Balin said.
"What is that?" Bilbo said.
"The Arkenstone." Balin's said.
"And what's that?"
"That Master Baggins...is why you are here." Thorin said. He gulped and I sighed. Balin waved for us to follow and Thorin stopped me.
"Can I talk to you for a second?" He wondered. I nodded and he took me away for awhile.
"Please be careful and if you don't come out..." He looked down. I smiled and took off my hood. I pressed my lips on his and he kissed back. I pulled off and put my hood up. He stood there and I walked to catch up with Balin and Bilbo. Bilbo went down the hallway and I followed.
"Hello?" He whispered as he came to the opening.
"This isn't your house." I hissed. He looked back and glared. I smiled and went down the steps to the gold piles. He slowly walked on the gold and I followed. I tried looking for the Arkenstone and there were so many white stones.
"They said it was easy." He whispered. I shrugged and we came to a pillar. I heard breathing and I looked over to my right to see a dragon nose. I heard some coins fall and I looked to my left to see the tail. Bilbo held his arms out and then put his hand on his hand. I smiled and the dragon head came closer to us. I gulped and backed up slowly. I looked at the pillar and I sighed. Bilbo kicked something and the eye of the Smaug opened. I used my invisibility power to hide. I crouched by Bilbo and he put on the ring. I sighed and looked up as the dragon went over us.
"I can hear and feel your breath and air. I can smell an elf and I am accustomed to dwarf smell. Where are you thieves?" Smaug growled. Bilbo got up and I followed as we ran down the pile of gold. Smaug followed and I avoided his claws. We ran around a corner as the dragon talked. We backed up against the pillar and I heard the squeaking of the ring. Bilbo pulled off the ring and I turned visible.
"There you are." Smaug smirked. I gulped and my breath became unsteady.
"Why are you here?" He growled.
"We heard about you magnificent Smaug. We didn't believe them." Bilbo said. Smaug passed us and we faced him.
"Do you believe them now?" He said proudly. I stepped back and thought about Thorin. Probably the last thought I will have before dying anyway. I saw at the corner of my eye the Arkenstone and I inched my way toward it. Smaug put his claw down by it, making me fall backwards and the Arkenstone to fly. I fell down and ran for it. I was scared and Smaug and Bilbo followed. I gulped and felt the heat.
The memory of my mother's face came to mind and I dived for the stone. I missed since the stomp of Smaug made it slide under this structure. I slid under it too and Bilbo followed. I leaned against the pillar.
"Are you mad?" Bilbo hissed.
"I would rather get the stone then being in here for hours." I snapped.
"It's even making you crumble." Smaug growled circling the structure. I huffed and clenched my jaw. Smaug's claw wrapped around the pillar next to mine and I gasped. Bilbo looked at me and sighed.
"We have to get out of here." I said. He nodded. I saw the Arkenstone and I ran for it. I slid right pass it and I glared at it. Smaug started getting fired up and Bilbo and I ran for the exit. We ran up the stairs and through the hallways. We came to the other side of the chamber.
"Your alive!" Thorin said.
"Not for long." Bilbo said.
"Where's the stone?" Thorin wondered.
"We had no time." I said. He put his sword out in front us so we couldn't move.
"Thorin." I snapped. I heard Smaug get closer and the other dwarfs came in. I rolled my eyes and Smaug was getting fired up. We jumped down to the gold below and slid for awhile. We stood up at the floor and ran into a hallway.
"You guys are mad for coming in here. We were handling pretty well ourselves." I hissed.
"Well you were. I just followed." Bilbo whispered. I glared at him and Thorin sighed. He waved for us to follow. We walked slowly across the bridge. I looked above us to see Smaug looking for us. Some coins fell from his skin. One dropped in front of Bilbo and Thorin looked back. We kept going slowly and I stepped on one of the coins. We ran as soon as the dragon saw us. We went down the steps all the way down to the exit of Erebor. It was sealed and there were dead skeletons everywhere. What did we get ourselves into?
