Chapter Two

Betty stared at Aero who was trotting happily in front of her and Jughead with his tongue hanging out of his mouth. Jughead stared at her hand where a wedding band sat on her ring finger.
"You're married?"
"I was."
"Oh, I'm sorry."
"No, it's okay."
"What happened, if you don't mind me asking?"
"Uh, we got married a few months ago and it was going great. He was a cop, which was great. But, one day a man came to my apartment, Cheryl and Ronnie were there, and he said that my husband was killed." Tears fell down her cheeks and Jughead rubbed her back.
"That awful."
Betty nodded. Aero ran back to her and jumped on her leg, and she laughed, wiping away her tears.
"Sorry, " she sniffled.
"No, that, that's okay. I would be crying too. When did he die?"
"A couple of months ago."
"Can I give you a hug?" He asked. Betty nodded and Jughead hugged her. Aero continued to jump on her leg. "I'm so sorry."
"It's fine, I've learned to live with it. Not well, but I've learned to live with it." She laughed.
"If you ever need me, I'm just down the hall from you."
"How long are you staying?"
"A week."
"I would love to hang out sometime."
"Did I know your husband?"
"No, I don't this so. Jake."
"No, I didn't know him. What was he like? Unless you don't want to talk about it."
"He was amazing, we have a four-year-old daughter, she's at my parent's house for right now. She's coming here in a couple of days."
"Really, you never anything posted about her?"
"Ya, I haven't had time with everything and getting my old house and moving everyone around. We don't have a ton of pictures together right now. I hope I'm not freaking you out or anything."
"No, not at all. To be honest, I really like you, from what I've heard about you and seen you online but we never crossed paths. I don't mean to freak you out either and I'm not asking you out because I know you're going through something, but I would love to get to know you better."
"I'd like that too."
"So, do you have any pictures of her?"
"Yeah, I'll show you some," Betty said, smiling as they sat down on a bench.

"Was that your husband?"
"Ya, it was taken about a year before he passed away. He was goofy. I have more pictures if you want to see them. They're in an album so you can just go through them."
"I would love that, she's so adorable."
Jughead went through a whole bunch of pictures.
